The Happy Ending Music and Reading Series
Ground Floor
Two Wednesdays each month, Happy Ending presents The Happy Ending Reading and Music Series , a totally original evening of music and reading, critically acclaimed by New York Magazine the NY Press as the city’s best reading series. Featuring the best writers, storytellers, musicians, and raconteurs, Happy Ending’s reading series is a must-experience for anyone looking for a departure from ordinary nightlife.
Series curator Amanda Stern requires that each featured author take a “public risk,” by singing, dancing or in some other way embarrassing themselves, in addition to showcasing their writing. Likewise, the musicians who open and close each show and provide the atmosphere between readings, play at least one cover song each night, and encourage the audience to join in. Stern’s provocative evening of intellect is never far from debauchery and listeners and encouraged to imbibe heavily and leave with someone new.
