Here's the long & short of it: AP.9 of C-Bos "Mob Figaz" hired a lawyer to help out with some problems (y'all know AP.9). Things went well for AP.9 and soon Mike Mosley, the label head for Steady Mobbin Productions, APs label at that time, was calling to personally thank the lawyer and asked him if there was anything else he could do out of appreciation for keeping his star free to perform.
fREEX is proudly sponsored byThus was born fREEX. Mosley, a producer famous for taking rap acts such as E-40, 2pac, TQ, C-Bo, and B-Legit, among others, to platinum sales, was soon recording and producing his first ever rock album, To Save The World with the fREEX as a favor to the lawyer. What does it sound like? Go to iTunes and friggin' find out yourself!
"To Save The World" was released through COG music, a label fronted by another Bay Area rap star, Cognito. It is what it is and no grandma can stand lickin' fried chicken if you ain't got a handkerchief. Apparently, you have to be exceptionally cool to 'get' the music. Once you do ... hoo boy ... your life will never be the same. No doubt due to Mosley's finely attuned platinum ear during his genius mixdown of the album as well as the mastering by none other than Bernie Grundman mastering, the same Bernie Grundman that everyone who ever wins a Grammy goes to, the album has a production that is simply bodacious. That's right, b-o-d-a-c-i-o-u-s.
Yes, fREEX has been on the radio. Yes, fREEX is on iTunes, Amazon, Pandora, emusic, etc. etc. Yes, fREEX has played shows. Yes, fREEX has been kicked out of clubs. Yes, fREEX has been asked not to come back to these same clubs. But, sometimes, for whatever reason, after a knock-down set by fREEX, a club owner smiles a subtle smile out of the corner of the mouth and says, "Yeah, you guys ... I don't know what it is ... but I like it. When can you come back?"
