The Wayriders

Well, thats it then. After 5 years together, weve decided that its time to put an end to The Wayriders. Weve never had a label or anyone behind us but in our time together weve released three albums (as well as a few little eps), made three videos ourselves for no money that got shown on the main playlists of The Amp and Scuzz and played over 300 shows. Our first two albums were only demos really but our last album was an example of how hard work can pay off and its something well always be really proud of. We toured pretty solidly for an entire year and used the money we earned plus our own saved money from shitty jobs to record and release an album ourselves and managed to blag a distribution deal with Pinnacle. In the music industry Ive always believed that anything can be successful if enough money is put behind it. Our albums, as well as our videos are examples of how good things can be achieved with little money. Weve always believed in hard work and initiative and thus we come away from this saying that anything weve achieved we feel weve really earned.
We tried to do something different with our last album but weve always been labelled a ska-punk band because we have horns and I feel this has held us back. People expect a band to act and sound a certain way when we can only be ourselves. Even if no one ever liked our music we always had fun playing our songs because we wrote them for us. Im just proud to have been in a band with four of my best mates and four of the most talented musicians I know for so long.
Weve just recorded a single, a cover of a song from 1936 called When I Get Low I Get High. Im not sure what well be doing with it now but its likely well try and get it out in some way as a final release. Weve still got a few shows here and there though and we do want to play one last tour in September so if anyone wants to help us with dates then please email me : [email protected]

Im sorry if this seems a bit out of the blue but thanks so much to everyone whos ever gone to our shows, worn our t-shirts and listened to our songs. Musics been my life for the last five years so I cant see myself taking a permanent break from it but for now, thats all we got.
