About Me

Subscribe to podcast
You may know me from such great musical ventures as Humansixbillion, or Aerodynamic Sometimes, or the Byrne Band, or the sound track to Burke and Wills, or my highly artistic compositions including the large scale electro acoustic cycle for tape and live instruments "Digital Dreams For Slogan Societies". That last one is pretty unlikely, but then so are the others really so I'm just going to nail it to the wall right here and now. I lived in Japan for a while. I'm married to a Japanese Sheila. She plays keyboards, so sometimes we jam. You may associate her to other rock and Roll Japanese women as the ladies from Blonde Redhead, or Deerhoof, or the Go Team. In fact, she has absolute pitch and an all round remarkable musical memory and there is certainly no guarantee that you could say that about those other bands. So anyway, I play my songs solo sometimes when people are gracious enough to ask, or when I am being a mover and shaker and I shoot off electronic correspondence to all the other movers and shakers and we get it going on. I am also prone to the odd hair brained scheme, the latest of which is a podcast, but which in my mind is so much more than a podcast. So stay tuned friends, because if history is any precedent, we're heading for another smashing, under-the-radar, anti-revolution that very nearly never was.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: whatsinalabel.com/pjh
Band Members: Well if there were other members it would be a band wouldn't it.
Influences: Tom Waits, Michael Nyman. Lots of others but they're the only ones I consistently notice.
Sounds Like: I think Guy Blackman, but I am sure he would disagree. Maybe Ivor Cutler is close. Biff Rose is similar in that he tries to squeeze too many lyrics into his songs. I've had people say I sound like Syd Barrett. I think there's some common ground with Nick Huggins, what do you think Nick? You do of course have a much nicer voice than me. But hey, I'm not one for fishing for compliments or name dropping so I'm going stop it right there.
Record Label: What’s in a Label?
Type of Label: Indie

My Blog

Audioblog up at whatsinalable.com/pjh

I've started this new thing to upload a new song every two weeks as way of putting my music out, rather than doing albums.  Have a look at http://whatsinalabel.com/pjhyowser.
