About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !
I'm a filmmaker. I've made two features and I'm working on my third. My first is called "The Homeboy" (www.thehomeboy.com), and it's a deranged buddy comedy about two white rappers on a down day in the suburbs. I produced & directed it, and you can find it on amazon, netflix...you name it.
The newest one is called "Zombie Honeymoon", and I wrote, directed and produced that one. It's the best thing I've done so far. You can visit the website, www.zombiehoneymoon.com, and sign up for updates, view the trailer, and get information on upcoming screenings. It's been riding the festival circuit, playing all over the world, since it premiered at the Hamptons, in October 2004, then a year later it hit a bunch of theaters, and received a wide release on DVD/video on Valentine's Day, 2006 through Showtime. You can buy it now on amazon at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CPH9UM/qid=1141308265/s r=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-9381308-0852814?%5Fencoding=UTF8& v=glance&n=130 Then in late spring it will be all over Showtime.
"Zombie Honeymoon" won the "Best With Less" category in the 1st Annual Fangoria Chainsaw Awards!
"The first truly romantic flesh-eating corpse movie."
--John Landis, director "American Werewolf in London"
"Zombie Honeymoon scores simultaneously as romantic, tragic, grotesque, and screamingly funny...this strong, well-thesped pic has a real shot at becoming a cult classic."
--Variety
"Not quite the campfest its absurd but undeniably catchy title suggests, Zombie Honeymoon is actually an emotionally driven blend of romance, comedy and horror...with solid performances (especially Ms. Coogan's) and capable direction by Dave Gebroe, whose script is infused with some wickedly funny lines."
--Laura Kern, New York Times
"*** (three stars)...Whether you're looking for a love story with a little gore or a horror movie with a little romance, "Zombie Honeymoon" will suit your taste."
--V.A. Musetto, New York Post
"Despite its exploitation title and adoit comic touches, the film is fundamentally serious and remarkably poignant...sure to become an instant cult horror classic."
--Kevin Thomas, L.A. Times
"...a highly disturbing combination of gruesome gore and earnest, tragic romance not encountered since David Cronenber's "The Fly," if ever...Coogan Sibley are absolutely terrific, [and] the script is better than those of most horror movies I see...For the right person, and you know who you are, this one's a must-see."
--Andrew O'Hehir, Salon.com
"Zombie Honeymoon gave me nightmares and made me wake up screaming."
--Ken Russell, director "Altered States"
"Director Dave Gebroe builds the suspense quite methodically and treads a fine line between romantic tragedy and increasingly absurd comedy...instant cult classic..."
--New York Magazine
"Quite easily, the best indie movie I have seen this year."
--horrortalk.com
"Expanding the limits of what cinema can do in almost every scene, not since BLUE VELVET has a film juxtaposed psychological, visual and audio elements to propel the movie forward with this kind of velocity."
--Film Festival Reporter
"Zombie Honeymoon will move your heart, then tear it out!"
--Fangoria Magazine
"Zombie Honeymoon is a unique experience...I believe I can truly say that this is a perfect date movie."
--FilmThreat.com
"Gebroe has crafted a gruesome and compelling little genre-blender...unexpectedly affecting and occasionally deeply disturbing..."
--Dave Davis, www.chud.com
"Oh, and I met a man named Dave Gebroe here, who says I must see his film "Zombie Honeymoon," which he describes as his response to my call for a truly romantic horror film. I cannot quite remember issuing that call, but no doubt he is right, and certainly there is a tragic lack of such films."
--Roger Ebert, in his Park City coverage
I'm currently working on my latest opus with a writing partner, which I'll be setting up for production a little later in the year.
I also teach a class called The Aspiring Filmmakers' Bootcamp, which is a great opportunity for anyone even considering a career in film. I put this together with indie film legend Larry Meistrich, founder of The Shooting Gallery and producer of "Sling Blade", "Croupier", "You Can Count on Me", and many more.
