This Chicago native grew up in old town, one block from one of the worst housing projects in Illinois, Cabrini Green. With his mother being a resident of Cabrini, Brill along with his twin and older brother stayed in the streets. From the streets he learned the ins and outs of the drug game and how to hustle money that he and his brothers split. After numerous incidents, his father decides to move him and his twin brother to the suburbs- this is where he found his love for music and track and field. While in school he broke several records. He went on to qualify for the junior Olympics, but after a tragic hit and run accident, Brill’s Olympic dream was detoured. However there is a silver lining in this cloud- Brill narrowed his focus to music. He started his own independent label where he has four up and coming artist. He taught himself how to play the piano, how to use certain music programs which helped him become a pro at using Pro-tools and helped him to produce, record, and mix his own demo. From recording alone he was able to develop his own style of Rap. When I listen to his demo, I was amazed because he sounds like a different person on each track…it seemed effortless. Most of his creativity came from listening to R&B...R&B? This is strange for a rapper, but, he was able to tell me why. “When u listen to rap it sometimes has margins, but in R&B…for example, MJ, Usher and R. Kelly explore different ways to make music, so I listen to them and watch them for creativity and style, but for lyric motivation I listen to Soze, Fit, D-Boy, Pac, Big, Big L, Nas, Jay-Z, Wayne, Redman…etc.†Brill is constantly asked if he is a Rapper or an R&B singer- he simple says “R&B had a baby but Rap raised me"The Brill Experience
