Power and Wealth Need Slaves

About Me

P.A.W.N.S. [Power And Wealth Need Slaves for long] are planning their seventh European tour. This is a four week circuit including Netherlands, England, France and Germany. The line-up for this tour includes Saint Ann (vocals), Ray DeHated (guitar/vocals), Arno (bass) and Rhino Wendol (drums). P.A.W.N.S. is frenetic, funny and tight, playing unusual punk music with amazing female-fronted tag-team vocals that generate a sound like Crass hitting the Avengers with X’s van. Originally out off Santa Cruz and the Bay Area, P.A.W.N.S. write satirical songs about technology, hypocrisy, religion, consumerism, suicide, war and the daily grind, among other things. P.A.W.N.S. are planning a Bristol, UK release for their 6th album “2BOMBGARAGE” along with a discography, with over 40 tracks dating back to 1994, with Active Distribution in London. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ---- REVIEWS: ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ---- ----------------SLUG & LETTUCE: P.A.W.N.S.--And They Thought Anarchy Was Bad “This band is perfect—they’re so good and they mix it up just the way I like it! Their last two CD’s were a awesome, but this one has the female singer really taking control and going for it and she rules cause her voice is amazing. Musically they are tight and full of adrenaline riding energy that punches in a galloping fashion. I liken them to Half Empty, Jack Acid and X—but taking from those styles and going even further. The songs are complex and full—like a rollercoaster ride. They play a straight driving punk style with a hip-twisting style and their own variety woven in a masterful way. I love this band and I can’t praise it enough! It’s one of the few things I’ve been listening to all month long—pretty consistently—cause I never tire of it. The delivery of furious energy with really good lyrics just makes this band soar to the top of my world and rock it to the ground. Fuck Yeah!!!” ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ -----MAXIMUM ROCK’N’ROLL ..243: P.A.W.N.S. --Rabble On The Move “Fourth release by these guys. And it may be the best thing I’ve heard all year. Unique vocal pattering, high-toned guitar mixing it up with snarey drums and cruising bass lines. Political as fuck. If you like SUBMISSION HOLD, NO MEANS NO, or LA FRACTION you will soon be dancing and smashing to these fucks. Incredible.” (JA)

Sounds Like: an equation of the sum of our influences... Sometimes as fast as DRI and MDC...Sometimes as slow as Submission Hold. Odd guitar time-signatures are woven into steadily rolling bass lines generating high energy rock'n'roll. Saint Ann of Archy crowns the music with insightful social and individual observations reflective of human behavior and desires. She has command of her voice and the passion to move thoughts into social cognizance.
