About Me

Andrew was born and raised in California. He has been playing hand drums and shakers from a young age, thanks to his mother's interest in dance. He got deep into collecting cassettes and then CDs in the late 1990's. He started playing guitar at the age of ten, and then proceeded to learn electric bass and piano. Andrew's grandfather John Maurer sang tenor in Bohemian Club choirs for many years and still to this day will belt out popular songs from the first half of the 20th century at family gatherings. Andrew has been in numerous bands and currently plays electric guitar with Amha Baraka in the reggae group Big Yard.

Thaddeus. Stanley. Jimothy. Rupert.

Spring breeze.  I'll be waking up at 5:30 am tomorrow.  First word of the day will probably be "good", followed soon after by "morning" when I greet my co-worker at the coffee shop.&nbs...

Poem, slightly borrowed from others

This cloth was woven by a hand that's touched every pebble in the ocean.   These sandals came to being under the bluest sky near Zion.  And when I say I love you, it has no end....

Bringing forth a quiet mind

Being sick today gave me time to lay down and think about things.  I’m hoping to revisit and reclaim the same sort of intense spirituality that I had within me a couple of years a...

Loud

Last night I was in a mosh pit in a basement.  Grindcore/thrash/crust punk whatever you call it- reminded me of a newer version of Agnostic Front or Converge.  I was impressed how ...
