Name it! Probably interested in it! Always willing to hear about interesting, expressive, individuals, or creative, innovative ideasD Rock KingdomD Rock KingdomAn ambitious effort to help expose the community of music, artists and performers in and around the city of Chicago. Started in the summer of 2000, it started out as a rock theme night at a bar in the city. After being frustrated about the "other cable access shows" in Chicago, and what I call 'lame hosts' playing videos; I took the initiative to begin filming the night I had put toghether. It included inviting industry colleages, musicians, artists, performers, etc. for a a night of networking and talking about the community of nightlife and simply fully enjoying a night out. It grew in popularity and continued to interest fellow peers to return and bring a more few friends with them every time, every week. Following a few months of once a week promotion, with interviews of some of the best bands in the city and some great food as well, it ended up proving this is something I should stick with and continue. It coupled with good freinds and great music. It proved worthy of following up with another location, more accessable to the neighborhood, after the closing of the 1st location, due to management of the bar.
The second year of the show was done at my house. There, I buillt a talk show set in my house. Including a stage for bands and/or live performances, full bar, interview desk and couch, all in the middle of a 3000 sq/ft. loft in Wicker Park, Chicago! This was a great location, and an awesome oppurtunity to try once again to re-start what I'd done the year previous.. Booking acts every week, I put together a production of live music, comedians/magicians, Jazz bands & even pianists for people to come and experience, giving them and alternatinve to the weekend bar scene in the neighborhood. Setting up lighting, sound and puttting out a buffet,(usuallly chicken wings or pizza, veggies etc. -provided by a local restaurant for free advertising at the party). and hosting the party every week, a couple times a week, proved to be a challenge but satisfying. By the response I had recieved by every one as they entered or left, (usually with a donation of money or advise) they seemed to believe in the drive I had to help preserve and expose the piece of the neighborhood we had all cherished, as well as entertaining them. This was January until May of 2002 with the blunt of the performances and filming toward the end of May. The show was once again interupted, when the landlord of the building wanted to renovate after we had been there 7 years of so.
Not giving up on the show, I continued by taking the camera out on the road the summer of 2002, ending, with me back in Chicago in the Fall mof that year. While on the road, I caught up with some of the most popular acts on the road that summer, including: Nickelback, Jerry Cantrell, Genitorturers, Coarse of Nature, Mushroomhead, Clutch, Filter and many more. Although not getting live or taped footage that I'm able to us for the show, it gave me great satifaction and an incredible experience to be around those people, accepting compliment that I'm doing the right thing with the show, and to keep pressing on!
Top be where I am at this point, has taken a huge amount of sacrifice and dedication. It will never be work for me, but I guarentee it will always be challenging. At this point I continue to follow through woth the show , hoping to gain national exposure. The show at his point is more of a variety show in idea. I think it could be a once a week airing for 1 hour (or 30 minutes). I would fill the hour with live performances, from featured local acts to national artists. What is also great is to have a celebrity sit in with me for the show to interview or a co-host to banter with, another great part of the show is to cook with a guest as a segment called the "D Rock Kitchen"(I've been a chef for almost 20 years). With all this in mind I want to take the time to thank-you for reading this, and can only hope the interest grows woith you too, as it has with me! The music in Chicago, coupled with the nightlife and culture here in Chicago, could easily be great Television for the country...as long as I am the host!GotRock? Get Rock!BeRocked! ~D.Cain

Music:
Name it! -I'll know it, heard of it, or seen it! I am a music box of information!D Rock Kingdom –
Starting off as once a week club promotions, with rock music replacing dance in the regular format. I hosted an “in the house†rock show on stage, complete with interviews of local and national bands, local and national artists, entertainers, and performers of all kinds. This took off on the idea that I could film this whole experience and expand on the idea by creating “skits’ and some small sketches and then inviting everyone from comedians, magicians to anyone with “Rock Star†image to perform. There are many segment ideas accompanied with the idea but one of them is the "D Rock Kitchen" which is cooking with music celebrities on location, in thier homes or on the road or in the kitchen studio. I think it would be pitchable to VH-1 or the Food Network. At this point, the show and I have done many things, branching off of that. Including live performance and fashion from the best in local and regional talent up to and including national celebrities with the image and drive necessary for my show. My focus for the show is to take it to a national level by gaining network attention of some kind which enabled me to create an hour long show for scale on a once a week basis. The idea could go 1000 ways in format but only one way in popularity, UP! I would like to represent Chicago on a national scale for the 12-40 year olds who pop culture and music from the 80’s and 90’s to today’s awesome array of talent and are influenced in their lives, just like myself
