The Drowning

British Dark Doom Death !

About Me

Since their formation in 2003, through line up changes & demo releases, The Drowning core of James Moore, Mike Hitchen & Jason Hodges have aways strived in the pursuit to futher push the boundaries of their genre, be it backwards or forwards.
With Mal Perkins & Steve Hart joining, the band are now more focused & more in tune due to the stability that comes with full time members, proving this with a string of headlining gigs in the south & west Wales areas.
Now in their fourth year with their debut album released through casket records, "When the Light was Taken from Us" has been greeted by critics alike. The Drowning have found their niche in the market, providing the members of a already established & growing fan base with their own style of Melancholy Dark Metal.
2007 will see the band touring in promotion of their debut & completing work on their next full length album. With a working title of "This Bleak Descent", The Drowning will be looking at cementing their foundations in the British Dark Doom Metal scene.

Sounds Like:The Drowning are not just a general Metal based band, with the members all having there own influences, the bands inspiration has come from the darker ambient side of music with the likes of the above bands influence being heard in many of the The Drowning's songs.

The band have also incorporated the use of acoustic guitars and keyboard effects to create the darker edged atmosphere in most of The Drowning's tracks... which makes them hard to compare with bands from the same genre.

The heavier side of The Drowning comes from many of the Dark, Death, Black Metal band genres past and present which have a strong influence on many of the band members.
