What others say about Eileen Sisk ...

“LOTS of tremendous reaction to you from yesterday’s program. They LOVE you! … Your voice fits perfectly. They can feel the soul! You are absolutely GREAT … !”

— Bill Mack, Grammy-winning songwriter and XM Satellite Radio DJ
“I could not put your book down, the continuity and style of your writing suggest mucho talent.”
— Buck Owens, Country Music Hall of Famer
“It’s about time the anthropologists took to scrutinizing the cowboy species. About the closest approach . . . we’ve heard of lately comes from Eileen Sisk, the self-described ‘Margaret Mead of honky-tonks,’ who penned the recently published HONKY-TONKS.”

— American Cowboy
“Successful journalists set their own personal standards and goals. When a technique is mastered, new goals are established. This describes Eileen’s approach to her position, problems become opportunities. Her can-do style also has a way of creating its own energy.”

— Joe Elbert, The Washington Post
“I have never known you to get ‘swamped.’ You are the coolest of cool and just go with the flow and get the job done.”

— Mike Tate, The Tennessean
Where I've been and what I am doing ...

I am a published author and professional journalist currently under contract with Chicago Review Press to write a biography about country legend Buck Owens.
In 1995, my first book HONKY-TONKS: Guide to Country Dancin' and Romancin' was published by HarperCollinsWest. It is a guide on how to find and survive America's cowboy bars. Also, I do occasional Nashville reports for Bill Mack's Open Road show on XM-Channel 171.
I was an award-winning designer and editor at The Washington Post (1982-1992) and have written for various newspapers (Los Angeles Times, Las Vegas Review-Journal) and magazines, including American Cowboy and Nevada.
My professional affiliations include the Society of Professional Journalists, Investigative Reporters and Editors, and the Society of American Business Editors and Writers.
Honors include being a subject of biographical record in Who's Who in the World, 2007 and 2008; Who's Who in America, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009; Who's Who of American Women, 2006-07 and 2008-09; Who's Who in the South and Southwest, 1997-98 and 1995-96; four awards of excellence from the Society of News Design, 1990 and 1992; and four merit of awards for black and white photography from the Pro Show, Long Beach, Calif., 1978.
I am a native Nevadan, attended high school in Arizona, and college in California.
