About Me

Originally from Houston veteran recording engineer Bradley Hartman’s career spans over three decades of celebrated award winning work. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 1974 with a degree in Radio,Television and Film he moved to Los Angeles where he was involved in the now legendary West Coast Country-Rock Scene. During the mid seventies and early eighties Brad recorded and mixed many successful projects, along with several landmark country records including “Elite Hotel” and “Luxury Liner” for Emmylou Harris and “Stardust” for Willie Nelson. During the same period Brad engineered critically acclaimed records for Rodney Crowell, Guy Clark, Billy Joe Shaver, Albert Lee, Jonathan Edwards and others. In 1980 Brad was in charge of recording all the music for the Willie Nelson movie “Honeysuckle Rose” and the soundtrack album that followed. He worked on the project on location in Texas and post production in New York and L.A.. That multi-platinum double soundtrack album included the signature classic Willie Nelson song “On The Road Again”. In 1982 Brad was named “Engineer of the Year” by the well respected trade publication Pro Sound News for the breakthrough sound of Roseanne Cash’s hit album “Seven Year Ache”. For the next several years Brad continued making records with many different artists as well as recording for film and TV.In 1984 he was recruited by California toy development company Alchemy II. As director of recording for the company from 1984-1988 Brad helped design and record software for the talking toy sensation of the late eighties, Teddy Ruxpin. During that period he recorded over seventy audio shows for animated toys incorporating dialog sound effects and music. The software for the toys went on to sell over thirty million copies worldwide. In December of 1989 Brad and his family moved to Nashville. For the first three years in Nashville Brad continued working as an independent engineer on Music Row. In 1993-94 Brad conceived and built his studio Trace Sound in Franklin TN. Over the past fifteen years Trace Sound has become a favorite recording location for singer-songwriters as well as bluegrass and Americana artists. Many of the albums recorded by Brad at Trace Sound have charted on the Americana charts and several have gone to number 1 including CDs by Tim O’Brien and Jerry Douglas.---------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------- BRADLEY HARTMAN - PARTIAL DISCOGRAPHY-RECORDING AND MIXING CREDITS---PLATINUM RECORDS-----“STARDUST” WILLIE NELSON- CBS ***-“WILLIE AND FAMILY LIVE” WILLIE NELSON- CBS-“HONEYSUCKLE ROSE” WILLIE NELSON- CBS-“PRETTY PAPER” WILLIE NELSON- CBS-“YOU HAD TO BE THERE” JIMMY BUFFET- MCA------GOLD RECORDS------“ELITE HOTEL” EMMYLOU HARRIS- WB-“LUXURY LINER” EMMYLOU HARRIS- WB-“BLUE KENTUCKY GIRL” EMMYLOU HARRIS - WB ***-“EVANGELINE” EMMYLOU HARRIS - WB-“PROFILE” (BEST OF) EMMYLOU HARRIS - WB-“WILLIE SINGS KRIS” WILLIE NELSON - CBS-“SAN ANTONIO ROSE” WILLIE NELSON & RAY PRICE- CBS-“SEVEN YEAR ACHE” ROSANNE CASH - CBS------OTHER ALBUMS OF NOTE-----“THE LAST WALTZ” THE BAND- WB-“SPEECHLESS” ALBERT LEE - MCA ***-“UNLEASHED” NASHVILLE BLUEGRASS BAND***- “TRUE LIFE BLUES” A TRIBUTE TO BILL MONROE***-GOOSECREEK SYMPHONY- WINTER HARVEST-FRED EAGLESMITH- VERTICAL-SAM BUSH- SUGARHILL- MICHAEL JOHNSON - VANGUARD-TIM O’BRIEN- SUGARHILL-DEL McCOURY - CAILE-TIM O’BRIEN - SUGARHILL-DARRELL SCOTT- SUGARHILL- JERRY DOUGLAS SUGARHILL-PETER ROWAN - SUGARHILL-CHRIS THIELE- SUGARHILL-NUMEROUS OTHER ALBUM CREDITS ON BOTH MAJOR AND INDEPENDENT LABEL RELEASESBRAD HAS RECORDED AND MIXED FOURTEEN NUMBER 1 COUNTRY SINGLES ALONG WITH NUMEROUS OTHER CHARTED HITS......*** DENOTES GRAMMY WINNERS.........................The following videos are all of songs recorded and mixed by Bradley Hartman.
