About Me

Mishal Zeera's music comes from a restless, dark place. Influences like Fleetwood Mac and The Cure mix comfortably with early Rolling Stones and The Smiths.
Mishal started writing songs in bed as a teenager. Previously obsessed with piano bashing, guitar trickery and books in English, he quickly mixed everything up into his dirty new habit. Growing up in the Middle East while listening to Led Zeppelin was a very lonely existence in the 1990's. Everyone else was into Green Day or death metal.
Moving to New York after playing in a London band, he formed and dissolved alt rock band "Johnnie Foreigner" within the space of a year and half - while his creative compass swung wildly in all directions. After a period of indecision he slowly gathered together the eminent musicians that back him up. Meanwhile, the live show evolved from an acoustic solo show to an ambitious and energetic live experience.
