About Me

What was the band Void? It was big soundscapes, acclaimed lyrics; a voice and musicians that played the stuff fans want to play at home with their friends. Once someone wrote he had gone to a Void’s gig in a small venue and entirely forgot not being in a great stadium. It was also said that all songs were different one from the other, melody and style wise, mature to reach a great crowd. After three months from playing together the band released an EP, sent it to a major record company that answered four days later to reach an agreement. Aarne and Jacques had been friends and flat mates for long. That period can be remembered as the rooftop jam session days. All the time not spent studying was spent playing and writing music. The duo at the time called Twelve, name suggested by Oulu Guru Hannu Koivula, was very prolific. Many different line-ups never changed the duo’s hardworking attitude. During college they met future fellow band mate Jarkko who unfortunately had been accepted in the Pop Jazz music school in Helsinki and left to fulfil his vision to become a professional musician. Later on Jacques too moved to Helsinki and hooked up again with Jarkko who brought in his schoolmate Toni, the alchemist of bass. The band rehearsed in the Pop Jazz music school, changing a few guitar players in the process. The three soon became close friends, talked about the universe and watched the "meaning of life". After one particular band practice Jacques, Jarkko and Toni sat in the school’s cafeteria. The debate was about the many difficulties the band encountered to find a brilliant guitar player. Jacques was drinking his coffee and suddenly grabbed the first guy by the sleeve. This small gesture changed everybody’s life. Since Jaakko’s first rehearsal it was clear to all. A few days later Jacques called Aarne and told him:” This is it!!! I have the band we have been waiting for but I can’t make it without you. I need you!!!” Three months after that phone call the first EP was made and the band was a sea of horses dashing towards the peaks of success. The band's following, since the last memorable gig, has kept on asking when is Void going to regroup and play again. Ghost of Void is the answer to those queries. Back to it's original line up of two, the roof top jam session days now long gone, Aarne and Jacques have finally come to terms with the constant need to make music together. The songs playing here are the result of a one day session. New songs are being cooked and soon available on this very page. The formats of the new songs will differ because of Ghost of Void's need to experiment. Stay tuned folks. Yours truly Ghost of Void.
