"Progetto Hang" starts in Rome in 2007.
Our wish of making music and experiment is high, and finding an innovative musical instrument is the sparkle that makes all begin.
It's all about Hang Drum, a percussion instrument characterized by musical and melodic sounds, invented by two musicians (Panart) from Bern in 1999.
The idea behind is to find something new, to create a own genre, purely instrumental and perfectly melodic.
The combination between Hang and Piano is something amazing, but we are hard to please..that's why we start working in the direction of using also other instruments as Xaphoon, Didgeridoo, Djembe, Darabouka, Violin, Sax, Harmonica, Bass and Guitars...
Quite obviously our continuous experiment affects the band line up too and we often look to collaborations with artists outside the project, as the great composer and musician Marco Canigiula.
The genre turns out to be a mixture between Ambient and Classical music, with shades that go from Rock music to Jazz, touching Ethnic music as well and so on many others musical influences as a result of the eclectic attitudes of the band's members.
The outcome of this all is well rendered in the first songs by The Hang Project who are already online.
"Progetto Hang" is in perpetual motion, a totally full-time testing. Without break. That s what we're on about.
Il "Progetto Hang" nasce nel 2007 a Roma.
La voglia di fare Musica e di sperimentare è tantissima, e la scoperta di un innovativo strumento musicale è la scintilla che fa cominciare il tutto.
Si tratta dell'Hang drum, una percussione dalle sonorità dolci e melodiche, inventata da due musicisti di Berna nel 1999.
L'idea è quella di cercare qualcosa di nuovo, di creare un genere a parte, prettamente strumentale e assolutamente melodico.
L'accostamento tra Hang e Pianoforte è qualcosa di fantastico, ma non ci si accontenta e si lavora al fine di utilizzare anche altri strumenti quali Xaphoon, Didgeridoo, Djembe, Darabouka, Violino, Sax, Harmonica, Basso e Chitarra elettrica e acustica..
Naturalmente tutto questo comporta una sperimentazione anche nella formazione del gruppo e sono sempre numerose le collaborazioni con artisti esterni al Progetto, uno su tutti il compositore e musicista Marco Canigiula.
Il genere che ne deriva è un mix tra musica Classica e Ambient, con sfumature che vanno dal Rock al Jazz, passando per la musica Etnica. Numerose sono le influenze di ogni tipo viste le attitudini eclettiche dei componenti del gruppo.
Alcuni risultati del loro lavoro sono evidenti nei primi pezzi firmati Progetto Hang, online su questo space.
Il "Progetto Hang" è perennemente in movimento, in totale sperimentazione a tempo pieno. Senza tregua. Da questo deriva il nome.
