Favorite writers at the moment: Gertrude Stein, Edith Wharton, Virginia Woolf, Mary Wollstonecraft, Mary Shelley, Christina Rossetti, and Elizabeth Barret Browning to name a few. Great women, great writers.
Mellville wrote some pretty good allegories as well.
A big nod to Edgar Allen Poe (a favorite I share with my lil sister) and of course, Waiting for Godot. I must confess a liking of medieval literature like the Canterbury Tales (mmmm Chaucer!!Gotta love trying to read in Middle English!!), writings of Christine de Pizan (City of Ladies - a _great_ read), and the story of Abelard and Heloise. On the contemporary tip, I love the book The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien as well as ANYTHING written by Kurt Vonnegut.
I'm even admitting to liking loving chick lit (Sophie Kinsella!!!)
Yes, I'm a book geek and proud.
