We are based not on water, or carbon. We are energy. Many of the chemical reactions which occur in our body are not possible without specific helper chemicals (called enzymes) which are produced directly from our DNA. That means we are not just energy, but we are highly organized too. We cannot be created or destroyed.. but we still exist. That means we were transfered somehow from a global (not necessarily Earthly in it's entirety) energy source, and when we are done being; then we trickle our energetic bonds into lost heat, metabolized proteins and carbohydrates, and finally left over with a bony shell which once contained life (the manifestation of this highly organized energy). We die, but the energy that was once contained inside this fleshy box we call a body, is now transmitted into millions of smaller less amazing blips of energetic transfer. It's very difficult to believe that this energy stays together. That would violate another law of physics: Entropy (the measure of random) will increase naturally without energy, and it takes energy to decrease this (or increase order). While we are alive, we are at a much lower entropic state. But we are able to remain there because we put oustide energy into this equation so that we don't disperse (or die.. whatever). So we are in a lower state of entropy in life, and when we die we become more random. More dispersed. More free.This directly conflicts with spiritual beliefs of many, who think we return to an ordered template where good and bad energy reside, and are naturally separated. I regret to say that much of what happens while we live is quite random. Some things work out wonderfully, but think about it: they have to. If they don't that would really throw this whole thing off (being the idea of happiness meaning something). Things happen for a reason: the reason being whatever we concieve it to be. We interpret signals all the time, and purpose is one which is often overlooked. We percieve things, therefore they exist too. If nobody percieves them, they are essentially off the radar (ie do they exist at all?) Without the ability to percieve anything, to any being that lacks this ability the thing in question does not exist. And ultimately if it is a reference point which we all have.. only to that reference point does it matter. In calculus they call this idea: limit. If something approaches infinite, it will never actually get there. But it may as well. Many equations will not make sense otherwise. If we don't percieve something but other things do percieve it that means technically whatever it is will exist. But for those who can't hear ultrasonic waves, or see, or smell.. these perceptions approach 0 or approach nonexistence.So the blind percieve no light, (sadly even if at one time they did and know that light does exist.. they must realize that it doesn't any longer for them..) and it does not exist to them. Sure you can argue that because you are able to percieve this light it must exist. But to the one who lacks this ability, this argument would be for naught. Sensation must be intact for any form of perception to occur. So if one doesn't percieve their surroundings as pleasant they may not be capable of obtaining such a frame of mind... that makes me sad. If one uses the concept of acknowleging what is good and leaving out the "could have been better" mentality; and noting that for that moment in time at that place, with whatever other variables you wish to state; it was a perfect time.
