I'd like to meet:

Cesar Milan, he came along before I got into the picture. The show he did on United Hope 4 Animals aired April 2007. But Cesar, his wife Ilusion and the whole t.v. crew filmed last December. The show is called: Hope, Maureen, Chloe & Sam. Ingrid Newkirk, founder of PETA, her fight for animal rights is unparalleled. Ingrid and her associates have the courage and drive to fight for what they believe in, PETA has it's critics, but hey it's a free country. Where I (Leela) come from, Mexico, we don't have such luxuries- humans and animals alike. Al Gore, 'The Inconventient Truth' has had an impact on the way humans view our damaged planet. Dennis Kucinich, a man brave enough to voice his opinions and speak for those who can't- animals. Often fodder for media ridicule- Kucinich has the huevos, knowledge and power to act on his deep connection w/ the Earth and its' inhabitants, he is ahead of the the times, people will agree with him when its' possibly too late. Assembly member Lloyd Levine, fighting to pass the California Healthy Pets Act, read more in my blog. also, I would like to meet Michael Vick, to tell him what a cowardly, sick a-hole he is, his mommy must be so proud of his 'accomplishments'

the sound of a can of dog food being opened, music to my big ears! Since my rescue almost a year ago, I've gone from 23 lbs. to 34 lbs.- my mom says i'm getting fat despite all the exersize I get. I grew up hungry, so I just LOVE to eat, sometimes I don't even chew my food, I inhale it and then try to eat the other dogs' food. My big brother, a pittie who weighs over 3x as much as I do sometimes growls at me, but I bark at him relentlessly until he's done eating, he doesn't scare me- he's a big baby who wouldn't hurt a flea

Movies:

Most people would not agree with the euthanization of animals. My adopted mom developed this MySpace page to educate people on the reality of the situation in Baja, Mexico. She is dedicated to helping animals in Mexico and Southern California. she is an animal LOVER and began going to the monthly free spay/neuter clinics in various poverty-stricken areas in Baja where people could bring their pets to be 'fixed' and treated for various illnesses and parasites. This was not enough, she wanted to go to the dog pounds (perreras) and help out there as well. This gave her a new perspective on just how bad the over-population problem is. 5-1/2 days a week, 10-50 dogs and cats come in to the pounds, many too sick to be saved- even if there was enough money for meds and supplies. The 'team' does what it can to bring supplies and make the animals comfortable. They have changed the way that the animals are euthanized as well. The old technique was to electrocute with an old car battery, this caused excruciating pain for the animals that lasted for many long minutes. A sedative and euthanol is now used as long as there is enough, it is expensive, but spares the animal from suffering. It is the same procedure used in the U.S. One look at some of the photos in the albums speaks volumes, THESE DOGS ARE SUFFERING AND BEYOND MEDICAL HELP. Often, all that can be done is help them pass peacefully, not by torture. In the past, if the car battery conked out, animals were 'disposed of' in a more inhumane way. Yes, some of these photos are really disturbing, but they are proof of over-population. Animals are 'disposable', used to breed for money, guard homes and used in labs for animal testing. If the animal runs away or becomes ill, people just go get a new one, like an appliance or an old item of clothing. The struggle to spay/neuter is an uphill battle, but every animal brought into a clinic saves hundreds of potential suffering strays and throw-aways. No one wants to watch the suffering or euthanize these sweet animals, but there are not enough caring, responsible people to take them home. The goal is to stop unnecessary breeding, but also to treat each animal that arrives at the perrera with love, caring and give them a gentle passing. They know what their fate is, animals have a 6th sense that humans are not in touch with at times. A gentle hand on the head and a loving scratch behind the ear lets them know that they are loved.

I'm a dog, can't read- mom does- sometimes she reads about animal anatomy, pathology and psychology. She tries to figure out why I decided to have a napkin and part of a dirty sock for breakfast, I'M A DOG! It was delicious, wut else can I say....?

tigress lost her cubs, surrogate babies

In a California zoo, a tigress gave birth to a litter that didn't survive. She became depressed, so zoo-keepers found an orphaned litter of piglets. They wrapped them in lion-skins and nervously introduced them to her. She took to them as if they were her own and perked up, back to her happy self. She is raising and loving them.
