About Me

I am the cofounder and president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals , the largest animal rights organization in the world. PETA believes that animals deserve the most basic rights—consideration of their own best interests regardless of whether they are useful to humans. Like you, they are capable of suffering and have interests in living their own lives; therefore, they are not ours to use—for food , clothing , entertainment , experimentation , or for any other reason. I recently addressed the International Nonviolence Conference in Bethlehem—it was the first time nonviolence toward animals had been formally included in what have always been "humans only" conference agendas. Click here to watch a video of this speech and here to learn how you too can speak up for animals. For more information, check out IngridNewkirk.com . Invisible AnimalsListen as I tell my life-changing experiences learning about the fascinating characteristics, abilities, and emotions of animals that most never notice because they are invisible to us. Listen here!
