SPYDER MONKEY

Rockin in 2008 Baby!

About Me

Myspace Backgrounds SPYDER MONKEY is an eclectic fusion of music with influences from progressive rock, soul, funk, jazz, Reggae and American blues. With raw high energy, the Spyder Monkey family of souls is creating music that GROOVES. *************SPYDER MONKEY is fronted by uniquely gifted singer-songwriter Susie Lofton. Bright and insightful, Susie sings compelling tales of the human experience. Her stories relate the struggle of natural man in search of spiritual connection, while exposing the world's leveling atrocities. Described as "a girl who can belt a strong blues sound to rock music.." Susie's powerful "sweet & soulful" voice is noted to be reminiscent of notarious female rockers PJ Harvey, Grace Slick, Blondie, Janis Joplin & Concrete Blonde's Johnette Napalitano. ***********SPYDER MONKEY's player line up consists of a very talented group of individuals. Drummer Mike Tooles provides speed, agility and un-deniably exciting rhythmic performances. His talents have led him to work with Rocombu Jazz, Minor Diety & Jellyeye Dance Theater among other notable projects. Next, is guitarist Phil Alley. His tasteful jazz inflected style and searing solos add a wide range of color to the music. Phil comes to us from Champaign Urbana, Illinois and is a force to be reckeoned with. Lastly, the soulful pop slappin bass work is that of Jeff Blatherwick. Jeff has opened for jazz bass great Stanley Clarke as well as played with blues legend Otis Rush. This unique quartet ferociously scale the wall of sound by integrating their diverse backgrounds. With their forces combined SPYDER MONKEY has forged a new dangerous breed of music heard the world over! *********SPYDER MONKEY would like to thank the fantastic venues in Chicago such as Martyr's, Morseland, Subterranean, Double Door, Elbo Room, PINT, Chicago Special Events' Taste of Lincoln Avenue and many many more!******************************************************* *****
