"Vientos de Abril"The Shit
.Rumsfield’s a DoucheThe Musicians
I’ve got to tell you about the players also, without whom the album would be nowhere near as good. Most of them are also featured on my "Top Friends". Click on their profiles to hear some of their other works.Amaury Fermin
Amaury has been instrumental in this project from the very beginning. it was his spanish language adaptation of my words and melody that made my change in genre even possible. I would never have gone in this direction were it not for the potential I saw in his beautiful poetry. He continues to be an influence and contributor to this recordings quality and I hope to work with him in all future projects.Jewls - Trumpet
My secret weapon. Without her I think I would sound like a fish out of water on this album. She has salsa deep in her blood and working so closely with her on these arrangements has really given this album an authentic yet progressive sound that I wouldn’t have achieved on my own. The majority of the horn arrangements are hers and we co-wrote our first track together for this album called "Yo Se Que". That’s my new favorite song so in the future, expect to hear a lot more collaboration between her and i...Panagiotis Andreou aka Pana - Bass Guitar
Since I lived in Boston (we’re talking back 5 years ago) I would follow this Greek guy around like a puppy dog whenever he played with a Middle Eastern fusion band called Wave. He’s the most distinct sounding bass player I’ve ever met. There is only one Pana, and it’s a dream to have him be part of this project. He and drummer Obed Calvaire get along really really well.Obed Calvaire - Drums
His grandma makes some kiling! Haitian food. And he plays pretty good... In my opinion Obed is one of the best drummers around these days. It’s my luck that we’ve known each other since we were teenagers. If this is the first time you’ve heard of him, it definately won’t be the last. Obed’s the man and has already established himself as a premier recording and performance artist. He writes nice tunes too...("God’s Gift" is an original composition written by Obed that was recorded on Sean Jones’ album "Roots")Kenny Grohowski - Drums
Kenny has been one of my favorite drummers for a long time. He and I are in another group together called brokenMadison, which is all original modern rock band. He’s an extremely talented drummer renowned for his technical ability and creativity. I am blessed to have two great and distinct drummers.Zaccai Curtis - Piano
Zaccai came to us at the recommendation of Obed. It took a while to find our guy but it was well worth the wait. It’s rare to find such a progressive and skilled young player that is so rooted in traditional styles. Zaccai can play the hell out of anything. He’s also a gifted composer which comes through in his phrasing and good taste. I can’t imagine this music with anybody else on the keys. You should definately take a minute to check out his original project Insight which is on my "Top Friends" list.Ray DeJesus - Percussion
Ray and Zaccai go way back, playing in various groups together. Zaccai brought Ray into the project and it turns out I used to watch Ray play pretty much every Thursday night at a little Boston hole-in-the-wall called Wally’s. Back then he played with one of my favorite groups, Suavecito. It’s a small world, everything is connected. I guess I did something right because once again God blessed me with this excellent percussionist who happens to also be a beautiful soul. It’s been a pleasure working with him all throughout this project and I look forward to our touring and future compositions together.
Jersey City is what New York City became famous for. A place of culture and art because it’s where the poor and the immigrants live. It’s where people create for the purpose of expression and not for the purpose of monetary gain (sometimes). It is only under these conditions that true art is made and art, in my opinion, is vital to the health of community and individuals. There lacks an outlet for the energy and creativity teeming underneath all the struggle. Needed is a center that provides the resources and space for talent to come together and exchange ideas in all forms whether it is film, music, art, poetry, theater, or dance.Giovanni Almonte is personally committed to the cultivation of self-driven expression and vocations through the creation of community centers for art and self-education in the neighborhood Jersey City, where he currently resides. Donations of any and all tools for education, art and media creation are being accepted. Integriti Group is currently seeking a space for the center as well."We’re living lives against our wills, spiritually we’re bankrupt in exchange for a dollar bill. I’m done with this, and so is everybody i know. It’s getting harder and harder to just get by. This has to change. In music and life, that’s what I’m about now." - Giovanni Almonte::DONATIONS::
