Rehab For Egos originally was formed in 2006 by Alex, Matty and Levi.
The focus of this band was clear from day one, high energy live shows, well structured songs with honest, meaningful lyrics. The response from their 2007 self titled 5 song EP was overwhelming from both, the music lovers and the industry. “I knew we were doing something right†said lead vocalist Alex. “Before we even had the opportunity to play our first show, we were offered a publishing deal from an independent New York label and there were 5 radio stations offering us air timeâ€. In 2007, the band’s first single “Wasted†was debuted on Regina’s 104.9 The WOLF.
The year 2005, Alex and Matty met through Levi; whom Alex played in a previous band with for 2 years and is now the current drummer. At the time Rehab For Egos was an all acoustic side project that Alex was looking to record, and Levi mentioned Matty’s name. Matty ownes and operates AudioVisions (a recording studio in Delta), he has a great reputation for his recording quality and his true rock and roll atmosphere. Intrigued by the idea, Alex contacted Matty immediately. “After only a short meeting it was obvious to me that I wanted Matty to produce and record my project, the musical chemistry was too obvious†said Alex. It would only be a year before the three piece would officially be a band.
After the 2007 Cross-Canada summer tour with his last band, Alex finally made the decision to part with them. “It was time for me to focus on Rehab For Egos†said Alex. “This project has been in the making for years and the timing felt right.†Contacting Matty and Levi was the next logical step for Alex. The three jammed out a few previously acoustic Rehab for Egos songs. The decision was made that same night to become an official band and rewrite the tunes with more of a rock feel, which is the sound of Rehab For Egos today. The band is currently writing the rest of their full length album, which will be released in the fall 2008, under their own Independent label “BIG DIG Recordsâ€.
