Nothing bad can happen to you when you're drinking gin, and that's just a true fact

About Me

I am not a band. I am not a friend junkie. Haven't you noticed how EVERYONE on MySpace seems to look poetically distressed with long locks of similarly tortured hair? Does hair length add to artistic merit? Or is it a Samson complex?
I'm a journalist. I can legitimately call myself that as I have gone to bed slightly disgusted with myself more than once (plus, I have a website which makes it official: www.katbrown.net. I write reviews of films, TV, and girly things. When I'm not doing those things, I enjoy playing board games and drinking cocktails and gin in assorted London establishments.
I will write about anything as long as a) it pays me or b) I'm interested in it. Before they fired me for not living in Wales, I wrote a property column which, being a 22-year-old with sod all prospects of home ownership, I was obviously qualified to do. The things I could tell you about taps would curl your ears.

My Interests

The Lithium Teapot , Scrabble, backgammon, Connect 4, canasta, The Lyceum Tavern (pre-boring facelift), what people like, gin and tonic, hardback books that look impressive on the tube but make you swear oaths of hellfire on the way home, comics, sharks, languages, cross stitch, The Photographer's Gallery, that swimming pool bit under the Waterloo Imax underpass, cigarettes, tangled chats

I'd like to meet:

Sarcastic twats. Grammar Nazis. People who drink too much wine and enjoy cocktails. Conversationalists. Good bands. Electro nuts. Boardgame enthusiasts. Those who give up their seats to the elderly. People with enthusiasms, convictions and ideals who don't change them easily and can persuade me why they're amazing. Unless you're a proper Nazi, a Mail reader or a disco nut in which case we might as well shake hands and part ways now.
I would have loved to have met Dylan Thomas. I'd probably have ended up punching him though.

I handed in my notice today. I've never had to hand in my "notice" before. Notice of what, exactly? Intentions of an infidelious nature towards another place of employment? For fuck's sake. I've alway...

Warning: Contains Pretentious Ramblings

About an hour before the show, I hid in the Jelly Belly bar clutching a vodka and diet coke, my script and trying to assume the expression of one who knows she looks like a wannabe four-year-old in th...

Stage Fright Is Shit

I am sitting in the Fringe press office in the denim hat I got in the same skewed sales logic of "but it's 70% off!" that got me a pair of cripplingly small silk shoes, and a bald wig. Wearing the bal...

Wit At Edinburgh - Travelling On A Nightbus Didnt Kill Kat Brown Shocker

It's a theatrical tradition that, for a show to go right, everything has to go wrong beforehand. I've always rather suspected this to be lies made up by companies blessed with more enthusiasm than ski...
