About Me

-- I'm an exceptional endurance athlete. I'd post a picture of me finishing the Buffalo Marathon, but I was delirious and chased the photographer. Sadly, it was the fastest I had run all day...after 4 months of training I was beaten by a 77 year-old man and a girl who didn't decide to run until that morning.--I used to speak German...my last class in college was Advanced Conversational German, and we weren't allowed to apeak English in the class. Since then I haven't spoken 5 German sentences, and I'm pretty sure the only thing I can say now is "Where is the bathroom?" (Wo ist die toilette?) At least I remembered something useful.-- Allegedly, I'm intelligent. I took an IQ test once and scored 124. They told me I should take the MENSA test, but my brain hurt. Besides, why would anybody want to be in MENSA??-- Don't invite me to your poker game, unless you don't want your money.--I have a kitchen, and I know how to use it. I worked weird hours when I was in college, and I used to come home at 4am and watch "The Essence of Emeril." It was the best class I took.-- Speaking of food, I have a wicked sweet tooth. Chocalate, pies, doughnuts...I need sugar. If you ever need to make a peace offering, which would be rare, a cannoli would probably do the trick. BTW, I usually make my own ice cream and I can whip up a key lime pie that will make you slap your mother. And I always use freshly-made whipped cream...that crap in the can is for recreational use only.-- I have a superhuman liver, so I'm almost always sober. I'm from Buffalo, which is a drinking town with a football problem. We're a different type of human, bred for cold weather and tremendous amounts of alcohol.-- Former radio stations: WKSE, WNKI, WNGZ, WBZN, WWYL, WPXY, WZNE.-- Former radio names: Spyder (thanks, Doc), Jeff Michaels, Jeff Wilde, Steele and now, Jeff Steele. Someday I'll start recycling.-- I'm accident-prone. I break or lose almost everything I touch. I've been in more car wrecks than your average Nascar driver. -- I'm a sick martial artist. I may only be a green belt in karate, but I could probably kick a gorilla's ass in less than 30 seconds. Despite my skills, I'd rather love than fight...but you've been warned.

My Interests

Sports and fitness. I like to stay active. I'm very good at playing golf badly. I watch a lot of sports, too...Bills, Sabres and Yankees. I'm a pop-culture freak (it's kinda my job), so TV and movies and anything entertainment related is always interesting to me. Most of all, I like to hang with my friends and a have good time...you only live once, so you better make the most of it.

I'd like to meet:

Jill Wagner. The girl from the Mercury TV commercials. I love her.Alexis Bledel. She's Rory on "Gilmore Girls." Wow. And smart, too.Erin Andrews. Only because she knows a lot about football and baseball.President Bush. Politically he's a moron, but he doesn't seem like such a bad guy. I don't know, maybe he is. I want to find out.You. Because you already know too much about me.

Music:

Almost everything, but even though I've been in radio for 10 years I have the worst CD collection of anyone I know. I'm a big fan of 90's alternative, most pop music (in a disposable sort of way), Hip-Hop and Disco/Funk. I remember the 80's. I have everything from Mozart to Metallica. I own Air Supply's greatest hits. True story. Jazz might be my favorite type of music. All-time favorite: Dave Matthews Band. And I STILL haven't seen him in concert!

Movies:

Rocky's I, II and VI (the rest were kinda dumb), Godfather I and II, all 6 Star Wars. I remember thinking at the time Top Gun was the best movie I had ever seen. Say Anything was cool. Comedy is a good thing. Any movie where stuff blows up can't be bad.Recently, I've been slacking. I'd say I'm busy, but that's a lame excuse...I need to see more movies.

Television:

24 is easily the best show on television. Grey's Anatomy and the Law and Orders and CSI's are good. Nip/Tuck, Laguna Beach and The Hills are addictive. Desparate Houswives is fun to watch. I never miss the OC. Not a big reality fan, but Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and The Biggest Loser are two of my favorites...have you ever watched Intervention on A&E? It's crazy.

Books:

Tuesdays with Morrie and The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom were great. Wisdom of Our Fathers was a really good book. You can't go wrong with the Bible. I like thrillers...James Patterson is good. I used to live a few blocks from Stephen King in Maine...he seems like a really normal guy, but there's something weird going on upstairs. He's entertaining, though.

Heroes:

My grandparents grew up during the depression, and then fought a war that saved the world. I think that's pretty heroic. My mom's parents just celebrated theit 61st wedding anniversary, which is amazing. My dad's parents were married for over 50 years before my grandfather passed away last year. They're all pretty tough acts to follow...My parents, definitely. Without them, I wouldn't be here. They've both worked really hard to make sure my life would be better than theirs.
