"Cool sounding, free flowing indie, which carefully takes you on a journey"

Formed in the back waters of South Norfolk at the tail end of 2003, The Rising emerged from the ashes of previously dismembered projects, with a powerful, determined & inventive new line up. Brimming with floating, hedonistic, lead guitar riffs which couple dreamingly with melodic vocal harmonies, the purpose was meaningful and the direction clear.
2004 was spent writing material and developing the now distinct free flowing sound. The first demos were cut and soon after, Norwichs premier music venues such as The Waterfront, The Arts Centre & The Ferryboat were graced by the confident quartet, to much public and local industry acclaim.
Combining the enthralling vocal magic of The Verve, the enchanting lead guitar prowess of U2 and the harmonic free flowing melodies of The Stone Roses, it was inevitable that The Risings growing and loyal fan base would begin drawing comparisons between the band and their influences. These comparisons poured fuel to the bands appeal, as both fans and critics alike were dumbfounded in trying to pigeon hole the distinctively unique Rising Sound.
At the turn of 2005 it was clear that the bands compellingly exclusive, but classically British sound had not gone unnoticed. With ambitions of performing to a wider audience in mind, the band signed a 2 year promotional record contract with Europes largest independent record label, Matchbox Records. Following on from the Matchbox deal an article was published in the June edition of the NME highlighting the bands recent success. These newfound exposures lead to the band being offered a new level of support slots. As well as frequenting the stages of Norwichs finest venues once more, the band also travelled the country supporting such well established acts as Yeti, The Buzzcocks, Biffy Clyro, The Complete Stone Roses & The Pistolas. By the end of the year the buzz was growing fast.
A TV deal with channel 4 started 2006 with a bang. The bands most recent demo would provide the backing music to the channels Freesports programme. With its collected army of fans continually growing, more Norwich area shows beckoned, before the band headed for the bright lights of the nations capital to play sell out XFM and Peavey sponsored shows.
The bands popularity has reached its highest levels to date, this was highlighted in February 2006 when the band received 99% of the public votes in a phone in competition held on the digital TV and internet radio station, Pulse Rated. This heightened popularity coupled with the bands current confidence, coherence, individuality and obvious ability will lead us to the bands first official release scheduled for late 2006 which will be heavily promoted with unrivalled live appearances across the country.
