Des notes délicates de piano appuyées par une voix rappelant la profondeur glaciale de NICO, un groupe à l'énergie mesurée tout en retenues et en explosions : l'univers de FAUSTINE SEILMAN est à son image, fragile et forte.
Nourrie par une formation classique et imprégnée de musiques anglo-saxonnes (SHANNON WRIGHT, CAT POWER et le label Constellation en tête), le FAUSTINE SEILMAN ORCHESTRA traverse les genres tour a tour comme pour mieux servir ses textes limpides et bruts, des faits chuchotés d'une réalité troublante.
La douceur mélancolique est relevée, l’arrangement léger (claviers, accordéons, harmonium, violon) mais lorsque les émotions ne se contrôlent plus, que l'écriture ne suffit à calmer la tempête, les guitares s'emportent et se brisent, la basse s'impose, la batterie se fait plus tranchante et les ch--urs s'envolent.
Un voyage en apnée dans un univers ambivalent comme un VELVET UNDERGROUND du nouveau millénaire.

Delicate piano chords with the cold breath of a soft voice, FAUSTINE SEILMAN’s song-writing is brutally heartfelt.
She whispers words coming from a life long story of love and hate, birth and death. She also masters her piano and gives depths and shapes to let emotions go, like if they were too heavy to hold. The band sometimes bursts into anger with layers of powerful guitars and bass, or softens the melancholy with instruments scattered around the room (accordion, harmonium, violin, glockenspiel…). They also know how to remain silent, when there’s nothing more to say.
Beautifully crafted, “Silent Valley” blends her classical education and influences like SHANNON WRIGHT, CAT POWER or A SILVER MOUNT ZION.
Her musicianship and experience (she also plays with MY NAME IS NOBODY) makes this debut album a mature and unique work of art.
