LOTS of things... music (playing, performing, and writing), good literature, good movies (and bad movies, but only if I'm with good people), meeting new people, driving just to get lost (and sometimes getting lost without trying -- I had a 2 hr+ trip home from DC once...don't ask), hanging with my friends, and prolly a zillion other things I can't think of now since I'm put on the spot.
Everyone!...drop me a line. Especially musicians who want to collaborate...the screen name is Nomad0581 on AIM. Or drop me an email: falltown (at) gmail (dot) com. Rawk.
I'd also like to meet these guys.
Well, I literally listen to everything. But my main influences are: Butch Walker/the Marvelous 3 (amazing songwriter/singer), SR-71/Mitch Allan (the hometown gang), Daniel Johns (a musical genius), Pink Floyd, David Gilmour (one of the best), Sister Hazel, Vertical Horizon (absolutely underrated), The Calling/Alex Band (great rock/pop tunes that actually say something), Flickerstick, Michael Hedges (RIP), Bon Jovi (shut up -- they fucking rock STILL), Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert (and everything he's been involved with), Brickfoot (local guys and great friends: www.brickfoot.com), Wes McDonough (also friends: www.wesmcdonough.com), and last but not least Dave Pace: a great friend, great producer, and great musician.
Now that we're done chatting influences, here's some (but nowhere near all) the bands I dig: All of the above influences definately, and theeeen... The Marvelous 3(RIP), Honor Among Thieves (they'll ALWAYS be HAT to me), The Dissociatives, Type O Negative, Poison (yea powerballads), Bon Jovi, Metallica, Silverchair, Ben Folds (and the Five), Billy Joel (best concert evOr), Tonic, Three Days Grace, Mozart, Keith Urban, Bach, Beethoven, Elvis Costello, Sinatra, U2, Aerosmith, Greenwheel, Mars Electric, Mudvayne, Jeff Buckley (RIP), Joe Satriani, Steve Via, Michael Hedges, All-American Rejects, The Beatles, Brian Vander Ark, Bowling for Soup, Victor Wooten, Atreyu, Anberlin, Jimmies Chicken Shack, Laughing Colors (local music reprazent!), Robbie Williams, Garth Brooks, The Verve, Peter Gabriel, Simple Plan, Spinal Tap(but...these go to 11), The Cure, Spineshank, Tears for Fears.. and a shitload more to be honest. But I don't care to type anymore. I love music. All music. Try me.
I'm also the lead vocalist/guitarist in the band FallTown. Check us out in my top friends, or via the link to our YouTube channel here: www.youtube.com/falltownmusic
Oh lawd, movies now? I could make a list comparable to my "music" list... but I'll list a few of my favorites. 80's movies... I love John Hughes movies... Ferris Buellers Day Off, Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, St. Elmos Fire, Pretty In Pink, (ok, here's movies that arent Hughes movies too, so don't think I'm retarded...), Fight Club (and practically any other Brad Pitt movie -- no, I'm not gay), Office Space, Back to the Future, This is Spinal Tap!, O Brother Where Art Tho?, The Sandlot (from when I was little), Not Another Teen Movie, The New Guy, That Thing You Do! (my cousin had a huge part in that), uhm...what else... Death To Smoochy, American History X, Oceans 11... that's enough for now. Thanks. :-D
I dig a random variety of TV shows, really. I like "Monk"...cuz I can relate. "The Office" is fantastic; that show never ceases to make me laugh. Other shows I'm into (off the top of my head) include: "Two and a Half Men", "How I Met Your Mother", "The Class", "Beauty and the Geek", "Friends" reruns, "Entourage", and old school cheesy sitcoms. I will refrain from naming any here to avoid looking like a total loser, ha. I also like late nite TV. Letterman (NOT Leno), Conan, and Jon Stewart. I like Comedy Central, and MTV when they actually play music. If there's a band on TV, I'll watch em play. Even if they suck... so I can go "omg, I'm so much better than them!" or if they're great, so I can go "omg, I want to be them!". That's healthy, I'm sure. So yea, in short... TV? Not so much. But still good stuff when I do.
Authors: Chuck Palahniuk, Augusten Burroughs, John Grisham, James Patterson, Jim Davis, Jay Mohr, Michael Pye, and Chuck Klosterman is the man.... more I can't recall right now. Cuz I'm absent-minded like that.
The Waffler. But really, I dunno. Anyone who influences me in a positive way I can look up to. People who support me and what I do. Musicial heroes are too diverse to list (plus it's a looong list). But my two biggest heroes? Dr. Robert Ancona and Dr. Johnathon Philipson. If you know me, you definately know why....but..here's to living. Werd.
