"The best single (backalleyannie) i've heard from a Scottish band in a long time...fantastic" (Billy Sloan, Clyde 1)
“The Parkers have a genuine talent for crafting catchy indie songs with a pop edge to them, 8/10†(Music Spotlight)
"Music that has enough pop to get stuck in your head for days, while retaining enough punk to keep it sharp." (Soundcheck Events)
“One of the most melodic, fun and punky guitar bands that I've seen this year†(John D, Pinup-Nights)
“Definitely our new favourite band. Tokyo Frosting is 2 minutes 23 seconds of punky-pop-genius†(Chris D, The Pineapple Club)
The Parkers tread a tight line between radio friendly pop and obscure post punk ideals. For simplicity they may refer to themselves as indie powerpop, but there’s a big enough grunge and 60s surf-rock influence to their music meaning that sharpness and directness underpins their style and sound.
The band formed in early 2007 eager to ingrain their own brand of indie powerpop into the psyche of Scottish audiences; and quickly established themselves with coverage on national radio, national press, a slew of live dates and support slots as well as great reviews of their initial demo's.
In Jan '08 the band released their first single 'backalleyannie / Danny the Operator' on Mechanical Rainbow records, which has been played regularly on BBC 6 Music, XFM, Radio 1 and Clyde 1 (Scotland).
