About Me

Hello I'm Roxx! I am guitar player from the Yukon (which is nestled up in the North West corner of Canada).

If I have asked to add you as a friend it is because I like your outlook on life, your positive attitudes, your music or something else. I know most people are on facebook and that myspace is mostly musicians these days but I still meet amazing people on here. It's a great way to find out about new places and new music.

For work I am lucky enough to be able to play music. I know you have never heard of me and I am not on the cover of Guitar Techniques or Guitar Player Magazine but I am happy. I play in a lot of bands and have even been flown to other cities to play music. As well as playing for bands and doing shows I teach guitar and bass. I love teaching and passing on the gift of music to other people. I've taught as young as 6 and as old as 82. I was lucky enough to have a really great teacher help me along (Robbie Mackay) and mentor (Ivan Zenovitch).

I have posted songs on here that are just demos of mine. I'll be changing them quite a bit. I love to write music and usually it's all over the map. One day I might write a blues song, the next a rock song, the next an isntrumental and on it goes. I am looking for an ambitious singer and/or band to write with. I've never claimed to be a great singer (and even though I get compliments when I sing I do know there are much better singers out there).

If you check out my blogs you will also find some lessons. They are just some ideas to help get the wheels turning in your brain. They won't teach you licks from songs or anything like that, but please check them out and let me know if you'd like to see more.

In closing, I am always looking for people to write with/record with/tour and perform with. I have done all of the following. I have not posted my bio or clips from live playing or studio work because I want this to be a more personal page. I have had over 10,000 plays of my music and am very humbled and thankful considering I've never been selling a CD.

Lastly, check out my friend Jamie Rowe (He is the best singer in the world!!!) and the other people in my top friends (From Mr. Jagermeister, to my friends I play for). Life is short so be good to each other:)

Cheers! and check out www/myspace.com/yukonroxx for my non music myspace page:)

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: *coming soon*
Band Members: *I play all the guitar, bass, program the drums etc. I even play the keyboard solos and sax solos you hear (I play them on a studio keyboard). I do all the singing as well.*
Influences: Joe Satriani (My favorite guitar player. And ps there is no best when you get guys who are this good. It's just preference). CC Deville (This guy got me into rock n roll and I still love his playing). Eric Clapton (I learned to play the blues playing to From the Cradle every day). Jimmy Page (Brilliant and one of the best blues players alive). Stevie Ray Vaughan (A guy named Mike Schau came to town and he was a Stevie clone and that got me hooked). Slash (because we have the same hair:). Yngwie (I love Yngwie!!!). Randy Rhoades (He can rip it up hey?). Eddie Van Halen (Damnit I still think tapping is cool). Eric Johnson (because no matter how good I get he will always send me back to the woodshed). Jimi Hendrix (He was the best!). Dave Gilmour (for showing me how to not overplay). Oz Fox and Michael Sweet (for making me wanna be in a band and making music with a message). Today I am digging this video a LOT:
Sounds Like: My sound is always evolving and changing. Right now I am trying to play more singing lines (a-la Eric Johnson) and at the same time work on my left hand legato (a-la Satriani). Tone wise I don’t like too much distortion and I am very happy with my Ibanez JS12000 and my Peavey JSX head. I also have a very nice Strat (my baby) and an exceptional Breedlove acoustic that was given to me. It reminded me and reaffirmed my belief in Karma. So be good to people. It does come back to you.
