whateverlife.comdelicate cutters was formed unceremoniously and drunkenly at barnstormer's pizza one night when chance (avery ellis exhibits) and janet (teen getaway) were in a frenzied match over what replacements album was the band's masterpiece. brian (the maisleys) just happened to be sitting at the same table. janet had been playing her music solo and acoustic for many years and had grown tired of the limitations of venue and expression the acoustic world wrought upon her. what began as a "backing band" of chance on drums and brian on bass would soon mushroom into a much larger quintet.a few months after chance and brian joined, the delicate cutters asked walon smith (the lolas, phil and walon...) to record them and accompany on a few songs. the cutters recorded a couple of tracks at walon's home studio in jemison, but as janet is a slacker, never finished. it was during this time that janet became friends with pete szelenbaum (ferocious bubbles, trees with bells), and asked him to sit in on a couple of songs. the sit in became a permenant position, and along came kevin nicholson (red hill).delicate cutters is currently wrapping up a new album, "we are not lovers", recorded by brian at his home over the last several months. look for it mid to late fall.
