About Me

The band that would later come to be know as Technotard was founded in 1954, in the small Russian hamlet of Zasranec by the Brothers Teknotirdinski: Dragor, Igor & Teflon. Early proponents of the "electronic sound", Technotard (or Teknotird as it was known in Russia) often confounded their rural audiences with godawful digital blips played from within tin pails. It is no coincidence that their debut album was released the same month that the U.S.S.R. launched Sputnik: October, 1957. Theirs was a slow progression of craft and passion, evolving their sound slowly over the years to become originators - as well as masters - of the "electronic sound". But it was not without sacrifice. Teflon Teknotirdinski succumbed to heart failure in 1973, and Igor was tapped by the icy hand of death in 1988 (having departed the band for a few years in the early 80s, Igor had been briefly replaced by none other than Leningrads legendary young virtuoso Boris Ratznin). As the sole remaining member of Technotard's original lineup, Dragor became increasingly dissatisfied with life in the new Russia and eventually relocated to the U.S. in 2001. After years of struggling both financially and creatively, he is finally achieving the North American record sales that have eluded him for five decades. He invites those who are unfamiliar with his music to "get 'Tarded"...and fans from the past to "get RE-Tarded!" :::technotard OFFICIAL SITE::: :::technotard STORE:::
