It all started on schoolday, when Tibo en Bart were rehearsing for show they were playing for an event at school Tibo asked bart if he didn't want to start a band with Mike, Gijs (aka Teeltje, Execute) and Koenraad (No Recess Vocalist). Bart agreed and a band shaped. The name was found by Mike and Bart (by there love for movies) they came up with 'Arakis' (the official name for Dune). After some rehearsals gijs quitted. He had lots of work with Execute, so we wished all of the best luck with his band. So we searched a new guitarist... Pieter (Always Fallen) a friend of Mike joined our ranks and played with us. It all went pretty well, but after some unfortunates events that winter the band decided to quit.
Then Bart (leadguitar) started searching for new bandmembers, and he gave a call to Jeffrey, a drummer whom bart had known for some time then. He got lucky because Jeffrey also knew a bassplayer named Steve. Stijn (Bart's brother) was asked to play rythm guitar so he joined the band as well. The only one still from the old formation was Koenraad (Vocals). The new formation around Bart was stronger than ever before! Because of the changes in the line up bart was forced to relocate to the OHK ostend (www.OHK.be). After a mere 3 months of rehearsing Arakis played a friend gig with Indeavor (www.indeavor.be), competed for Duynerockrally, Velorockrally and more to come in the future. But after these shows Koenraad was unable stay withe the band so we had to look for a new singer... Then Miguel (a friend of steve) joined us and this is the current line-up.
After some time there grew some tension in the band concerning technical as well as musical issues... So with pain in the heart we had to see Stijn leave the band... Then for some time we tried with only one guitar but we saw that this was impossible. So went out to get a new guitarist. And then Roel came in the picture. A guy from Nieuwpoort, giving Arakis extra skills and fresh ideas to start all over. When you say Arakis, you say hard riffage, melodic parts, shredding solo's, and in your face breakdowns.For contact:

After our last show at the Twilight, Arakis came to an end after some dispute within the band... After 14 months of fun and repetition, and sometimes a little blabbering we've put an end to a band that made us more musician than we could think...
Miguel, Bart, Steve, Jeffrey, Roel and Stijn would like to thank everyone who had come to our shows and supported us
Bart and Stijn started a new band with members from Take It Down and Omerta while Steve, Jeffrey, Miguel and Roel teamed-up with Jehody as a new gitarist. Expect something from their bands soon.
