A Scot, a Cornishman, and an American walk in to a bar of 7. The Cornishman says 'I think I'll play it in 5', and thus The Action Group.
An international conglomeration of divergent musical minds united in a quest for improvisatory enlightenment, The Action Group is jazz for people who don't like jazz. The Action Group has gone through many faces and formations since it's original inception in 2001 when Wayan finished Uni and sold all his guitars to purchase drums and pursue a more organic and spontaneous approach to music making. George and his brilliant 'compositions' were met via dBass, although it would be many months before Wayan and George would realise that they played drums and keyboards respectively. The two searched for a bassist, but found more satisfaction in a Moog and Feargus's 'very small bass' (and, of course, his ability to tear it up). All three members of the band have been playing music for most of their lives, and perform in numerous ensembles outside TAG, from classical to rnb to avant-garde, Between them, they have performed in every major venue in Scotland, a few in England, and a couple of dives in the US. Every show is different, for not only do TAG not use a setlist, but they'll also stretch, compress, and rearrange their tunes live in the moment, as well as frequently just making something up on the spot.
The Action Group is currently compiling their live and studio recordings in the interest of creating one complete album out of it all. This shall be done shortly. They may also be performing in Scotland in the fall, and New York in the winter. And they love you.
