About Me

NEWS MAY 8th - New blog entry.
Did you know this about Tomo?
...full name Tomislav Milicevic
...born September 3rd 1979 in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina (then Yugoslavia)
...ethnically Croatian, and speaks the language fluently
...younger brother of model/actress Ivana, also has a younger brother, Filip
...the Milicevic family moved to the USA (Michigan) when Tomo was in the 3rd grade
...would have been forced into the army at the age of 16 if they hadn‘t moved
…is a certified pastry chef, but never cooks for his bandmates
…adores blueberry muffins
...started playing the violin at the age of 3, his uncle Bill Milicevic is a professional violinist and professor of music at the Michigan University
...at the age of 19 he discovered heavy metal, and wanted a guitar, so he and his father built one. This guitar was actually used during the recording of the track “Savior“ from the album “A Beautiful Lie“
...started writing his own music at the age of 17
...is left-handed, but plays the guitar right-handed
...plays a Gibson Les Paul Custom
...also plays the piano
...says his first concert experience was Nirvana.
...played with Michigan based band Morphic from they got together in 2000 until the end of 2002 (This band has been opening act for 30 Seconds To Mars)
...had decided to quit the music business and sell his instruments, when Shannon Leto told him about the autidiont to become 30 Seconds To Mars' new bassist.
…joined 30 Seconds To Mars after being picked amongst 200 musicians at the above mentioned audition
…first gig with 30 Seconds To Mars was February 3rd 2003 at the Craig Kilborn TV show, only five days after he joined the band.
Tomo quotes:
"He really wanted to buy an electric guitar. But they're expensive, so he said, 'Hey, let's make one.' We went and bought all of these tools and books, and the next thing you know, we're building an electric guitar. Fifteen hundred dollars later and twice the cost of any good electric and we had it"
About the guitar he and his father made

“With sound there's a certain amount of space. It's very easy to fill that sound with noises and sounds, but it's very difficult to keep it empty and still have exciting songs “
“For Jared, making music is very personal and cerebral so for him to open up and share the experience is difficult .”
”But we were terrified to play those songs live. We're a real balls-to-the-wall, rip-your-face-off kind of band, and for us to slow it down, there's a natural reaction to wonder 'What if nobody wants to hear those songs?' What if we start playing those songs and our fans are freaking out?”
“You can't really help touching the person next to you. No matter how much of a germ freak you are, you're exchanging liquids with people.”
”We're here to mop up the mess that was left behind.”
”Truthfully, every band has their different challenges. I think we have ours, and that would be one of them. But I would take our challenges over other bands' challenges-”
"It's never a second thought. Every single band has something they have to prove to the media and the people. We are very committed to winning. All we want is to have our shot.”
"Don't try to do something you've heard before, try to create something you've never heard before. If you can do that you can do anything."
