LETTER FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHER:
Hey all! Well, it's been a long time coming... Or maybe short in the scheme of things.. But here it is! Combatlifestyle.com
It's all about the fighters, and the things they do when they're not fighting.. Sure, I shoot the fights too (I love being there right smack dab in the action!) but its what the fighters do when they're not on the canvas, mat, ring, octagon, or cage that I wanna see. And thus far it seems that so do you!
My love for MMA started from shooting all the fight afterparties in Las Vegas, which is what Napkinnights does. Well, I became friends with a lot of the fighters as a result, and started going to the UFC Fights at Mandalay and MGM. To me it was a FUN atmosphere with an amazing energy. Then, I started actually paying attention to the fights. Part of this had to do with going to the events with my girl, Brittney Skye. For those of you who don't know, she's in adult films (see www.brittneyskye.com) and also one of the Tap Out models. She was so into them and knew everything that was going on. The other part was when it's your friend in the action, you tend to pay a little more attention. And thats when I got addicted.
I started shooting fights, and posting them on their own section of Napkinnights.com. I started traveling all over the country to do so, and to party with the fighters. But it just wasn't enough. I felt that I wasn't learning enough about the sport by just shooting.
I started training Brazilian Jujitsu with Sergio Pehna in Las Vegas. I have to thank Alex Schoenaur for taking me my first couple times. I'm a pretty confident person with no problem doing things on my own, but Sergio had just moved to this new location and it had no sign on the door, no front office, no phone number, and no website. It was like Fight CLub to me; You only went there if you knew someone with the secret password. I can't tell you how disapointed I was when they got a website, office, and sign on the door.
It's been a learning process for me, and the BJJ was a tremendous help. I think I have become a pretty proficient fight photographer. But it's not the fight pictures that you all want to see, it's all the lifestyle and behind the scenes stuff that you click on the most.
This hobby of mine has started to generate a lot of traffic, so we decided to break it off onto it's own site.. I'm including pictures of the guys in all aspects of getting ready for a fight, and what they do after! I have video clips of these competitors being themselves, not the tough guys you see on TV! My events calendar will have listings of any fights and afterparties that I know about. I also write blogs when I can about the crazy adventures I have, and the ridiculous predicaments we get into.
So here I am today with Combatlifestyle.com. I hope you enjoy it; I sure as hell enjoy bringing it to you!
Thanks for all your support!
