Born to be Wild

About Me

I was born in Boston Massachusetts, and grew up in a small town about 30 miles from the city. After studying music at Berklee College of music in Boston, I moved to Los Angeles with a band and I never looked back. Music is still my passion, my pain, my expression, and my main source of income. I have been teaching guitar and voice for about the last 10 years and its been good to me. I relocated to Seattle in 2007 after years of Cali living and really like it here. That said, I miss the Sierra Nevada...especially the Kern and the Rubicon! I'm still looking for my new playground here in Washington, but I'm sure this summer's adventures will show me the way. I consider myself a spiritual person and have had strong interest in metaphysics since I was young. I believe there is much out there that we have yet to comprehend and connect, and thats inspiring to me. If you are the same, stop in and say hello. I try to live as healthy as I possibly can and workout to stay in shape. I'm 170lbs, 5'9 and I'm half French and half Sicilian. I like nature and backpacking, and also like nature photography. I started as a way to document the week long backpack trips to the Sierra Nevada and Cascade Ranges over the years. I'm pro-environment - pro-equality - pro-free choice - I'm currently working on a full length CD and hoping to have it available this fall... and for those jokers in the White House...those scandalous fuckers should be tried for war crimes for taking us to war based on facts which have been proven to be fabricated lies, thus putting the country in debt for the next 20yrs!...All music, lyrics and photos - © 2004-2008 Paul Campo Music - MyGen Profile Generator v

My Interests

Influences: Rock-n-Roll, Blues, Soul, and Folk are my main influences. The blues, especially the 'Chess era' and the late 60's blues revival had a huge impact on me. I started playing guitar when I was 15 after hearing Jimi Hendrix - who is still a big influence. I think Freddie King is really great too. Lynyrd Skynrd and the Outlaws were incredible when it came to top notch Southern Rock lead guitar styles. All that said, when it comes to electric blues based lead guitar, you have to give credit where its due, and B.B King was really the guy who laid it down for everyone to follow. The Beatles were such an incredible talent and a big influence on me just like so many others. For vocalists, some of my favorites are Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, The Beatles, Freddie King and Little Walter. Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, and traditional country sounds as well as classical composers Segovia, Montoya, Chopin, Bach and Scarlatti are in my collection. I'm not crazy about overly electronic styles but if its used tastefully it can be really cool. Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, and Pink Floyd all took the technology of 'their' day and made incredibly artistic music... imagine if they had Pro-Tools recording technology in 1969?... they had 4-tracks for Sgt.Peppers and Are you Experienced! I've been finding lots of great music here on myspace, and its been cool checking out different sounds...besides all that, I like anything I hear that moves my soul...
