History of The Edge Underground...
Our little journey began in late January 2003. Evy and Ashley had worked previously together as writers for another underground webzine. When we were later fired, we decided to band together and become partners in crime. The main focus and idea was to build an online webzine that promoted and supported unsigned acts of the underground scene. But also to share our great love of music that doesn't get the mainstream airplay or major label backing. We began by sending massive amount of e-mails to bands to give us the chance to interview and review their music. Unbeknownst to us, we'd received a massive amount of response from bands but folks that shared our same views.
During 2004-2005 things began to slow down on The [edge] Underground. Much was due too losing staff members, the burnout of promoting the site, and the busyness of our own personal lives. The little online site that we created had taken a back seat for much of the year. It was uncertain if The [edge] Underground would continue its dream of promoting and supporting the underground music scene. It wasn't until, I [Ashley] had talked with a member of Against 72 that I realized how much bands appreciated our work in helping them promote their music. Though we might not be the biggest or best online resource for underground music. It just proves how much a band appreciates that someone is recognizing their dream and vision as well.
So in late 2006 after much talk with Evy and myself decided that we would continue The [edge] Underground. We ourselves had realized how much we'd come since our start in late January. We had put so much workd into this site and simply refused to let it go into the wind. It was then, we decided to keep our main focus on working with unsigned acts (since in the past we'd worked with major label acts).
Now that we've entered 2006 - its safe to say that we're here to stay. And we have a solid crew of music lovers all whom enjoy hearing new music, talking to bands and writing about 'em to share with folks all over the world.
Our mission from the beginning and still is...is support the underground scene. To open the ears and eyes to the mass that the best music isn't always on what you see or hear MTV. Its not always the music that you hear on mainstream radio. That you can still find great music hear in the underground. And with that we always say... Viva La Underground!
