COMING SOON: "One Solution"
After his last release "My Family" featuring musicians such as Bela Fleck, Malang Jobateh, and his mother Dialymousso Drame, Boubacar is working on a new project called "One Solution" with Madou Diebate to highlight awareness of the HIV and AIDS epidemic in Africa and around the world.

An African musician now living here is hoping his next album will not only evoke emotion, but also encourage action.Boubacar Diebate from Senegal is a master player of an instrument that has been played in his homeland for centuries. The kora is a member of the harp family. It’s made of a gourd, cow skin and fishing line, and its sound can stir the soul. With that sound, Boubacar wants to send a powerful message on his next album, which will focus on the epidemic of HIV/AIDS in Africa. Specifically, he says he’s thinking about the children."Looking at those kids, it’s just painful," Boubacar said. "The HIV problem is not the politicians’ to solve in Africa, but is a concern for humanity."Millions of children in Africa are being orphaned by HIV/AIDS each year. Many of them are losing their own lives.Boubacar hopes his music can inspire his fellow Africans and people around the world to stand up for the children. With just a gourd, cow skin and fishing line, he’s making a musical plea. For more information on how you can help fight HIV/AIDS in Africa and help orphan children, you can contact these organizations:DAWA (Denver and Africa Working against AIDS) is a local organization. March 15th, 2008 SXSW Copa Bar performance review and photos by Adrian Bischoff from blog.ipickmynose.com
"I decided to catch Senegal’s Boubacar Diebate at the Global Rhythm showcase at Copa’s. He’s a master kora player and singer. His band included a Malian guitarist that Diebate said he’d met yesterday; he’d heard someone speaking one of the African languages that he understood and he started talking to him. It also included two Americans (I think), one on upright bass and one on alto sax. Despite the group being sort of slapped together, they played really well together. The communication on stage was spot on. There was a lot of smiles and laughs on stage. The band was really enjoying themselves. The show was something else. It really blew my socks off."
