Dodi Battaglia is born in Bologna on June 1, 1951 by a family of musicians; his father played the violin, his uncle the guitar, his grandfather the mandolin and the piano. He starts to study music and to play the accordion at the age of five, before even knowing how to read and write. He studies this instrument until the age of 14 when one day, while listening to a song by the “Shadows,†he decides that the guitar is to become his true passion. He plays for various local bands, among them the “Meteors†who accompanied Gianni Morandi, then comes the meeting with the “Pooh†in 1968. He suddenly becomes a member of the most popular and long-lasting Italian band.He additionally starts to play the piano and to compose music while developing a particular style that reflects two different instrumental approaches. His is the voice in many songs by “Pooh†among which “Tanta Voglia Di Lei†-- the first real big success of the band. But all of this does not distance him from his real love for the guitar. He therefore starts studying while perfectioning a style made of taste, virtuous technique and personality. In 1986, during a tour in Germany, he receives the prize of “Best European Guitar Player.â€The following year, the Italian critics assign to him the title of “Best Guitarist Everâ€. Today he remains a point of reference in the Italian landscape of guitarists. Many are his collaborations with other artists: Zucchero, Vasco Rossi, Gino Paoli, Mia Martini, Raf, Enrico Ruggeri, Franco Mussida, Maurizio Solieri, Tommy Emmanuel and many more.â€Fenderâ€, a historic American company of guitar production, has dedicated to him a “Signature Model†-- a guitar also known as “Dodicaster†-- built and put in the market based on his specific requests. The same thing happened with “Maton Australia†who built an acoustic model specifically tailored for him.For long now, he has been working on a method for a guitar that should come out next summer. After two years of work, “D'ASSOLO†will be released as the instrumental acustic solo of Dodi Battaglia. The album will contain new songs of a multiethnic Mediterranean taste, with pop and international melodies inlayed by virtuousness -- all composed and arranged by himself.“D'ASSOLO†will be distributed by “Warner†in the whole world, in particular Italy, France, Germany and South America. The making of the record has been achieved with the concept of "plug and play" directly on the consolle, often without using a metronome for more freedom of expression. In terms of percussions, Dodi used his “Maton†guitar, "Dodi Battaglia" model, hitting it in different spots to get different sounds (base drum, snare, CABASA, etc…) creating a rhythmic weaving that is unique and unrepeatable. The base and some harmonies played by Dodi have also been added. There is no doubt that "D'ASSOLO" (in Italian it means “by himselfâ€) is a perfect title, with the exception of the participation of Franco Mussida and Maurizio Solieri in the song titled “NORDINFESTA.â€Presented for the first time at the “2003 Soave International Guitar Festival,†the album gained an enthusiastic success and interest for the wide range of enjoyment for the entire project. Titles of the songs: PRIMAVERA A NEW YORK, CORAZON, TRENO PER IL MARE, LA NEVE AD APRILE, ANNALISA, NORDINFESTA, ROMANTICA, PER TRE, 1 GIUGNO, D'ASSOLO.Produced by Dodi Battaglia for Più in Alto edizioni Musicali.
