Hello, my name is Jack Bauer. Last year the Chinese ambassador stationed in Los Angeles was killed by friendly fire during a mission to retrieve a suspect that had information that was essential to national security. The Chinese held me responsible, and planned to take me into custody, but Walt Cummings thought this was dangerous. He thought that I would be tortured and that I would break under interrogation and divulge highly sensitive and classified information. So he decided to have me killed. In order to remain a free man I had to fake my death and live under the alias "Frank Flynn." Then this morning, President Palmer was assassinated, and I came out of hiding. Originally my main objective was to find and apprehend whoever was behind the assasination, but when the Sentox VX nerve gas was discovered I agreed to stay with C.T.U on a temporary provisional basis.
