My Interests

Music:

Band Website: versiz.com
Band Members: Just myself and the various spirits that choose to walk with me from time to time. I've been known to rock shows with DJ InCreDuble.
Influences: The upcoming project has mostly been influenced by material from Common, Finale, Fluent, and Elzhi's mixtape. Also over the years i've been inspired by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Portishead, Incubus, Saul Williams, One Be Lo, J-Dilla, MF Doom, Jurassic 5, Radio Head, Mr. Lif, Murs, Aesop Rock, Sage Francis, Steely Dan, Jimi Hendrix, Roger Bonair Agard, Nina Simone, Black Star, Coltrane, Dead Prez, The Flaming Lips, The Gorillaz and countless others.
Sounds Like: A young KRS-One according to my manager and the Metro Times. I've noticed that the cool thing to do here is for artists to pretend like they have this completely unheard of sound and say they sound like no one. Let's face it. Very few us don't remind people of anything they've heard on the planet earth. Nothing new under the sun and all of that. That's ok. It doesn't mean there isn't room for innovation or originality. Simply put, if you like One Be Lo, Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Danger Doom, AML any thing on Def Jux, Jurassic 5 or some other underrated hiphop act, there's a higher probability that you'll dig Versiz.
