06/17/06 Strenuus at RNR Pizza Tonight was a good night to be at Rock N Roll Pizza. There was quite a crowd by the time Strenuus was setting up on stage. There was an immense amount of excitement for the bands return. There was a new line-up, new merch and a new cd. The stage was set and they were ready to play.They started off the set with Breathe. This song serves as a brief summary to the limitless abilities of Strenuus. The lead vocalist Arne provides a deep growl of a scream with Nate (bassist) assisting with his more blood curdling scream. The two pair up to administer an electrifying dose of hardcore energy. To accompany his powerful screams, Arne then presents a smooth, melodic singing talent. Arne shows his unique talent with a voice that doesn't seem comparable to anyone elses. Keeping in stride with the lead singer is the drummer, Alan. He showed a raw talent and pure intelligence and passion in the way he played. Keeping a perfect rhythm for his band mates to play along. One of the most unique and extraordinary parts of this band are the two guitarists, Kaelyn and Ryan. Their riffs were heavy and intricate at times and at others soft and melodic. The guitars and bass coincide nicely to pull the whole band together.The performance on stage was just as good as the music. They completely lost touch with everything but the music and showed it with mass amounts of "rocking out!"This band is showing true potential after their first show back. They appeal to many people because they've broken the barrier of genres. Strenuus had an incredible performance and Portland is honored to be able to watch these amazing musicians grow.Review by Nino
