Je suis compositeur, j'écris et sculpte. Bob DYLAN a dit: «Mon nom ne veut rien dire, mon âge signifie moins!". Je laisse alors mon travail lui-même vous montrer ce qu'il en est!
Je préfère ici parler des musiciens du groupe. Nous sommes, d'abord, des amis proches. Vatomanga et moi avons partagé des moments merveilleux à Madagascar et à Paris. Il fut le premier à se joindre à moi dans ce long et fastidieux travail pour élever la musique du terroir malgache. Alors que d'autres groupes jouaient des chansons en vogue, nous tenions de longs débats sur la meilleure façon de transmettre les rythmes traditionnels malgaches et les textes. Vatomanga est également un joueur de clavier sensible.
Tony Rabeson est un célèbre batteur, bien connu comme l'un des meilleurs musiciens malgaches. Il a grandi dans une famille d'une véritable dynastie de musiciens: les Rabeson. Il a joué avec tant de jazzbands et connaît bien ce que sont les rythmes. J'aimerais le remercier pour sa vision particulière qui a apporté une autre touche à ma musique.
«Emana», Matthieu Eskenazi est un ami proche des musiciens africains à Paris. Le mélange de jazz «ethnique» est la signature caractéristique d'Emana. Il n'est donc pas étonnant de le voir approché par les musiciens de Cheb Mami, Cheika Rimiti, Salif Keita, Manu Dibango, l'Orchestre National de Barbès, Papa Wemba ... Que ce soit pour des projets de style funk, raï, salsa, blues, jazz, africaine ou indienne.
Quoi qu'il en soit, il est difficile pour les mots de décrire la musique de Jonny R'afa. Parce que nous jouons aussi des rythmes traditionnels venant d'autres parties du monde ( même du folk / rock / blues ). Nous n'avons pas envie de jouer une musique de communauté. Les bons rythmes sont universels, en particulier en ce monde globalisé. Ainsi, la meilleure façon d'apprécier notre musique est encore de prendre un siège confortable, fumer et écouter. Se laisser toucher par différents rythmes, tout comme en s'amusant dans une sorte d'itinéraire spirituel.
Les chansons comme Rabodoniarivo, Retsiana ou Ravorombazaha ont été maintes fois reprises par des artistes de renom, sont diffusées sur les antennes, et figurent désormais parmi les "classiques" de la musique malgache.

So I prefer to talk about the musicians in the band. We are, at first, close friends. Vatomanga and I shared wonderful times both in Madagascar and in Paris. He was the first to join me in that long and tiresome way to raise the malagasy roots music up. While other bands played fashionable songs, we had long debates about the best way to transmit the malagasy traditional rhythms and lyrics. Vatomanga is also as sensitive a keyboards player.
Tony Rabeson is quit a famous drummer, well-known as one of the best malagasy musicians. He grew up in a real dynasty family of musicians: the Rabeson's. He played with so many jazzbands and knows well about rhythms. I'd like to thank him for his particular vision which brought a special taste to my music.

Different rhythms should touch your mind all along, just like having fun in a kind of spiritual journey.
