Vicente Climent was born in Alicante, Spain, on the 12th February, 1960.
He formed his first duo with his mother, a professional dancer, playing piano and Vicente on the pots and pans from his mother’s kitchen. He still, on occasion, uses the same “drum kit” to record (Jorge Drexler, Llueve).
On his seventh birthday he was given his first real drum kit.
At 13, with the guidance of his drum teacher, Vicente Montero, he joined the group Huevo Frito (Fried Egg) whose members later went on to form the group Mediterraneo, one of the top groups at that time.
When he was 17, he moved to Madrid to play in dance bands and met Javier Paixariño, who offered him a chance to play Jazz in Malaga.
There, not only did he begin a learning process, but also a career in jazz music, which over the next 12 years took him to the Canary Islands, Madrid, Switzerland, Germany and Palma Mallorca, collaborating with well know jazz fusion artists on the national circuit at that time. They include Lou Bennet, Jorge Pardo, Josep Max Kitflus, Blady Bass, Pedro Iturralde, Steven Frankievich, Joan Bibiloni and with Luis Vecchio’s Big Band, inaugurating the 1st Jazz Festival of Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.
Up until then he was basically self-taught, although he also took classes with José Ropero (Symphonic Orchestra RTVE), Jean Luis Barbier (Málaga Music School), Eddie Look (Coleman Hawkins), Tony Moreno (Taller de Músicos) and music theory with Luis Vechio in the Music Centre Vanguardia, Las Palmas, Pepe Milán (E.M.C.), Mingo Roque and Jacob Sureda.
In 1988 he set up home in Madrid and entered the world of Pop, Rock and Roll and “la cancion de autor” (the singer/songwriter), working with amongst others Cómplices, Aute, Luis Pastor, Mercedes Ferrer or Santy Vega.
Between 1991 and 1995 he was member of the group “Esclarecidos”, an emblematic group of Spanish pop music. With them he recorded the albums Rojo, Dragón Negro, which included original compositions as well as versions of popular Spanish songs: Un agujero en el cielo, Tucán, A flúor, Cielo.
As of 1995, he started touring and recording with different groups and artists such as Danza Invisible, David Sumers, Aute, Jorge Drexler, Andrés Calamaro, Ismael Serrano, Ketama, Luz Casal, José el Francés, Diego Torres, Pedro Guerra, Malú, Juan Perro, Miguel Ríos, Santiago and Luis Auserón, Pasión Vega and El sueño de Morfeo.
In 2006 he was chosen as the drummer for the mega-concert organised to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the radio station 40 Principales (Top 40), which was recorded live at the Vicente Calderon Stadium in Madrid. He played for 37 of the artists who performed that day, including Manolo García, Shakira, Alejandro Sanz, Juanes, Miguel Ríos, David Bisbal, El sueño de Morfeo and Antonio Carmona.
During the last three years he has also composed music for television in collaboration with Pepe Milán.
At present, as well as working with other artists, he is working on his own personal project, a recording of original songs for which he has been able to count on the participation of Josep Max Kitflus, Jorge Pardo, Christian Howes, Manuel Machado, Virgilio Fernandez, Antonio Serrano, Román Filiú, Paco Rivas, Luis Fernández, Adrián Shinoff, Alfonso Pérez, Jacob Sureda, Antonio Saúco, Javi Pedreira, Marta Barriuso, Jaco Regulón, Mingo Roque , Toni Cuenca, Arthur Jensen and the invaluable co-production of Pepe Milán.
