About Me

Singer and songwriter Paul T hails from the Great State of Arizona, home of Barry Goldwater and Alice Cooper, and his music and politics fall somewhere in the middle of that. Performing in both red and blue states with equal disdain, his white-hot whiskey-fueled lyrics shred through the lies of our times like a brush hog in overdrive. Righteous, self-righteous, exhilarating and aggravating, hilarious and profane, he plays music with the ghosts of Hunter S. Thompson, Will Rogers and Frank Zappa kibitzing over his shoulder. Named “Arizona’s 1 Songwriter” by the Arizona Republic in 1988, his work has been recorded by Tommy Cash, Johnny Paycheck, and Chris Noel. Paul T’s wide-ranging material, rock-based acoustic grooves, and captivating, high-energy live shows have also made him in demand for thirty-five years of state and county fairs, opening act for performers such as Willie Nelson, Alabama, Dr. Hook, the Gatlin Brothers, Don Williams and Gregg Allman, and a top-ranked soloist on Carnival Cruises worldwide. His first album Cowboy Moon, released by Pyramid Records, consists of a dozen original songs rendered in a lived-in way that brings his own soul to life and exposes his own raw emotional truths, and he is currently completing his second album. His playing is the kind that comes from a virtuoso who isn't all that impressed with his own virtuosity. These days, it seems easy to make something sound glossy and polished, and hard to make something sound real. This much about his story is clear: Paul T has been tried, and his music remains true.

Band Members: In demand as a solo performer, Paul T has also played with many of the great musicians who define our times, including: Alabama, Gregg Allman, John Anderson, Eddy Arnold, Hoyt Axton, Moe Bandy, Gary U.S. Bonds, Roy Clark, John Conlee, Gail Davies, Mac Davis, the Gatlin Brothers, Vern Gosdin, Dr. Hook, Delbert McClinton, Ronnie Milsap, Ricky Nelson, Willie Nelson, Buck Owens, Johnny Paycheck, Charlie Pride, Jerry Reid, Johnny Rodriguez, Mel Tillis, Tanya Tucker, and the legendary Don Williams.

Influences: Tracing my songlines and everything I know about the power of music back to the late William E. (“Bill”) Compton, the father of open-format FM radio in Phoenix…driving old pickup trucks held together with duct tape and hairpins…listening to Cat Stevens, John Stewart, Richie Havens, the Beatles…through quiet desert nights where clouds float across the moon…the Mesoamerican and life-changing rhythms of wind slapping the lines on a flagpole…anytime and any day in Sedona, back in the woods cutting my own Christmas tree… a woman who knows more than she lets on…and the powerful faces of our street people and our vets, the real heroes...
