With more than 50 million records sold worldwide, Veit Renn has made a remarkable impact in music.
But let's start at the beginning. He was born and raised in Augsburg, Germany. At the age of 8, Veit's parents fulfilled his desire to learn an instrument by buying him a keyboard. Inspired by his nine year older brother who played guitar and sang in different bands, he started to write his own songs. While still studying keyboard with a private instructor, he taught himself guitar and bass.
Inspiring artists of his youth were soul and jazz musicians like Al Jarreau, George Benson, and Stevie Wonder. The combination of R&B and jazz fascinated him and was soon recognizable in his original songs. He started singing in bands that soon played mostly his songs and in 1986 he received his hometown award for "Most Promising Musician." With this band he also toured Germany, Czechoslovakia and other European countries.
Veit always had a dream to study music, but first had to fulfill his parents wish to do an apprenticeship in order to have a more secure future. The belief of his parents in him grew more and more until they finally financed his studies at Berklee College of Music.
Berklee gave him the technical skills and experience he always wanted. Now it was the first time he could concentrate fully on music, on songwriting, arranging, sequencing and singing. In Berklee, he did many sessions and concerts singing Luther Vandross, Peabo Bryson and Stevie Wonder tunes. "Singers-Showcase" and "Commencement" (singing for Billy Joel) are just a few performances he did in his time in Boston.
His first accomplishment was an album on Rip It Records with vocalist RAab, where Veit sequenced and co-arranged the vocals for most of the album including a gold single called "Foreplay." His first production was with a group called "Jaze" titled "Summer Love Thang." Then he met the Backstreet Boys, a Zomba (Jive) recording group, who received multi-platinum status in Europe. Veit has written songs and co-produced one of their famous singles that also went platinum titled "I'll Never Break Your Heart." He has also written and recorded three CDs for First Com, a publishing company that specializes in license music and production-soundtracks for TV and Radio and has been heard on HBO, Jenny Jones, and Nordic Track commercials.
Veit, being a multi platinum producer and songwriter, has evolved into a accomplished engineer. As part owner of RMP Studios Inc. he has the opportunity to track and mix everyday on some of the recording industries most advanced and also antique analog equipment. This has made him comfortable in any recording enviroment.
