About Me

Diversity ! This exciting, handsome singer, rapper, composer, music producer, studio engineer and sound system designer has been making his mark on both sides of the music business, since 1979.On the Creative side, George has worked at various studios in the tri-state area as a sideman, with recording artist including: Lilo Thomas, Glen Jones, Evelyn “Champagne” King, Meli’sa Morgan, Paul Lawrence Jones and Kashif of: Hush/Mighty-M Productions/Management. Toni Smith ( Jamaica Funk )& Eddy Hazel ( Guitarist for: Parliament/Funkadelic ). He had developed his own company: Brown Finger Music, which is an independent production, promotion, management and publishing company with ASCAP.In 1979, George has joined up with brothers: William & Freddrick Shefield to form an Sound Company called: WES SOUND CO. where they designed and manufactured sound systems for Clubs, Churches, Roller Skating Rinks, Retail & Wholesale Outlets. As a Disc Jockey for WES SOUND, he made a name for himself as: D.J. Brown providing entertainment in the Tri-State area, the South, and Florida, plus venues in Upstate New York, Connecticut and Canada.In 1980, George had the privilege of meeting the Chief Rocker of WBLS 107.5, Frankie Crocker while he was the D.J. at a popular club in Brooklyn, NY. At the time called: Club Zanadu. WES Sounds D.J. Brown was known for doing various remixes for all known performers coming to the venue. There was one particular remix that court Mr. Crockers attention. “Ain’t no stopping us now” - McFadden & Whitehead, and that became the stations anthem. D.J. Brown was hired to set-up a difference mix with the song to introduce the top songs of rotation for the station. On the business side, George always seemed to show his entrepreneurial spirit. Although he had attempted to become recognized as a singer and composer, he realized that he needed to utilize his knowledge, which he had acquired from some of the industry’s top entertainment lawyers in New York; Cashmen and Micheal & Selverne of Selverne & Flam, Stephen Palley & Andy Tavel of Grubman, Indursky & Shindler, who had all been instrumental in building a strong foundation for George to survive in this business.In 1982, George went on tour: “Ray Brown “Prince of the Blues” featuring “The New York Sounds” where they played at Five Star venues in: Atlanta, GA., Orlando, & Daytona, FL. and Tokyo, Japan. There was a show in Daytona Florida where “The King of the Blues” B.B. King was sitting in the audience when he notice a young band doing there thing. The group was approached by King’s manager to play six month in Las Vegas as an Opening Act, and there were to be contracts waiting for them back in New York. But unfortunately the group never made it back because of an accident. The band’s truck was struck by a tractor-trailer and the outcome was critical. The drummer “Freddrick Sheffield” was killed instantly. Road Manager “Henry Smith” is consigned to a wheelchair from a broken spine. Percussionist: Roosefelt Howard & Bass Guitarist: Gregory Moody got away with sores and bruises. Keyboardist: George Brown’s body was found 30 feet up a cliff where he was found in state of shock. But by the grace of God he walked away with sores & bruises. ( God lifted him up and put him out of harms way… It wasn’t he’s time.) Guitarist’s Ray Brown & Wendell Williams had flown back to New York ahead of the group.In 1984, after recuperating mentally & physically from the accident, he joined up with: Mr. Magic ( WBLS 107.5 ), Tyrone Williams & Marli Marl of ( Cold Chillin’ Records ), David Eng ( Owner/Engineer ) at Bayside Studios in Queens, NY. & D.J./Producer: “Tony D. to record the 1985 smash single: “Inspector Gadget Rap” by the Bad Boys. ( TD Records ). 1986, he joined up with producers: Robert & Richard Poindexder, writers of: Thin line between love and hate -The Persuaders & Hypnotize - Linda Jones , where he toured for several months. After the tour George have focused on Songwriting, Implementation, Production and Sound System Designs. Placing a studio in his home gave him the opportunity to collaborate with other songwriters & artists.In 1989, George signed a management contract with Cliff Smalls, Owner/Promoter of: Club Town Hill 2 & Daddy Cliff Studios, Brooklyn, NY; Son of Cliff Smalls Sr. the jazz pianist/composer /arranger who toured with Sarah Vaughn, Billy Ecksteine, Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr., Brook Benton, Duke Ellington, Smokey Robinson, Freddie Hubbard and Thelonius Monk. While traveling with his father in the 70s , it gave him insight of stage management and promotion. He went on to do road management for the likes of: The Temptations, Roy Ayers & Everlyn Champagne King.In 1992 , George went on the produce the single: “Let me love you” - Recorded by: Imarri (Project X Records). As things began to develop, George asked Mr. Barry Yearwood to step in as Adhoc manager. Barry Yearwood, producer & manager for Kool Moe Dee, Full Force and SWV, has been George’s industry “tour-guide” .In 1993, George had the privilege to work with Multi-Platinum Producer: Keith Diamond, who wrote & produced songs for the likes of: Billy Ocean, Micheal Bolton, James Ingram, George Benson, Donna Summer, Mick Jagger, Star Point and others. In 1995, deciding to get back on the “Wheels of Steel” , George joined S.U.R.E Record Pool, and was later hired as Studio manager, Engineer and Producer, where he designed and build the studio from scratch, developing a nice acoustical environment. He installed everything from mixing consoles, rack of outboard gear, keyboards drum machines, sound modules, computer with hardware and software. Later Bobby E. Davis, Owner/Founder of: S.U.R.E Record Pool, decided to start an studio engineering program with the D.J. members of the pool. So George assisted with the program as instructor and trained 24 clients. In 1998, George was hired as the assistant to the CEO/President, Linwood Roberts of Black Rain Records. Behind the scenes at an independent record label, George took on many roles in attempting to secure the labels future. He was directly responsible for all National Promotions staff contact, all advertising and art design layout, in addition to being A&R development assistant and the label’s in-house staff producer/engineer, recording artist’s like, R&B sensation Kieran, female R&B group: CRÈME, and label mate: female rapper: Aleze,In 2001, George was introduced to NeverQuit Entertainment, CEO/President: Timothy Colemen from an artist he is currently producing from a another facility. While there he produced a mix CD called: “We jacked it - instrumentals. And the first single and video from the label was: “Hood to Hood” recorded by: Money Mel & Chico Delvic formerly from the group: Junior Mafia.Finally, in 2005, After taking time off from the road for a few years, George was persuaded to go to Atlanta, Ga. to check out the southern music seen. There is where he met Lady “T”, who had just moved in from Las Vegas. She is the chauffeur for: Charles Barkley, P.Diddy and Jennifer Lopez, when ever they are in town. Lady “T”, on her free time would always take him out to network with friends of her’s like: Ying Yang Twins, Ludacris and Big Tigger. She is still in the process of setting up some deals for him. She has close tie’s with: Bad Boy South, A&R - Tigger.....Now!! The year 2007 - George Brown & Jahad Drummings has decided to open up their own facility upstate Poughkeepsie, NY. Studio “7” Recording Studios, “Great Minds Entertainment, Urban 3rd World Productions….which consist of strictly Hard Disk Recording. Catering to client’s for the purpose of recording their material in a professional manner. They also provide services in: Budget Production & Mixing, CD pressing & Duplication, Sound Reinforcement, Artist Development, Management/Promotion, Sound & Studio Designs.
