About Me
Band formed by Daniel, Helio Gazu, Hamilton Pernão and Beto Podrinho in Guará, one of the satellite cities around BrasÃlia, in 1989. Os Cabeloduro was the most appropiate name to translate their background, transforming day-by-day influences into virile and honest music. In the same year, the band has already performed in small places and local bars, assuming a Punk Rock stand. In 1993, Ralph replaces Pernão, and the quartet starts to play all around Distrito Federal, gathering fans through his urgent sound and straight lyrics.
With an intense promotion not only in BrasÃlia, the band gets into a studio to record its first demo tape. With a more professional purpose, Os Cabeloduro distributes around 2500 copies of its work to the specialized midia. In 1995, the group releases in Portugal an EP called “Vozes da Raiva†and the compilation “Um Xute na Oreiaâ€, also released around Europe. This shows how important it is to play in everywhere, from modest spots to national-wide known festivals.
At the end of 1996 “Com todo amor e carinhoâ€, their first full-length CD – comes out on RVC Music, an independent label. The critic says it is one the best Punk Rock records in Brasil ever and it also is among the top ten of the nineties in BrasÃlia.
In 1997 the group goes to São Paulo for a tour and some CD promotion in radio stations, MTV and magazines. They also played some concerts in smaller towns. In 1998, Os Cabeloduro returns to BrasÃlia. “Cabeloduro ..1†– an EP with 10 songs - is released that same year.
Before Podrinho leaves the band, they yet perform in Brazil and join some compilations, such as “Cult 22†(1998), “Porão do Rock†(2000) and “Cerrado Allstars†(2000). “Tributo aos Garotos Podres†(2003) has no longer his participation.
With no intention to stop, Os Cabeloduro invites Marcelo and comes back to São Paulo to record “Tudo que a gente temâ€. The years on the road transformed the sound, which produces a change in the name: Cabeloduro (with no article).
