About Me

My World Visitor Map!
I'm an actor---any questions? ;-) If you're interested in me as a film maker, feel free to check out my resume at www.tadatkinson.com. You can find my reel there, or check it out here on MySpace.
For the rest of you, a little about my history which led me to where I live now. I was born in the Chicago area (North Shore--Wilmette, if you want to be specific). I lived in Geneva, Switzerland for 18 months as a very young child, entering Kindergarten in an international school. I spent my elementary school years in a tiny college town in northwestern Illinois called Mt. Carroll, began middle school in Connecticut and then moved to Ft. Wayne, Indiana, where I lived from 1977 through 2004.
My education's a checkered as my life. I squeezed my BA into six years, switching majors from Astrophysics to Accounting to Business Administration and then finally to English. I got my MA in English with a Linguistics minor and had nearly completed a PhD in British Literature with a Composition/Rhetoric minor when I switched career tracks and withdrew my candidacy.
I thought I would be a college professor, but was offered a full-time job at a small private high school as the Director of Drama. My one constant activity in my life has been theatre (I've been acting since age 6), and so it was an offer I could not refuse. When my second divorce came (yes, I've been unsuccessfully married twice), my life was completely destroyed. My sisters in California made me another irrefusable offer, and so out I came to apply my lifelong love and passion in a professional sense.
I've been very fortunate in my acting (I came out here in 2004); one of the projects of which I'm the most proud is My Cousin's Keeper. I worked with the great folks at ADI Effects, which was the greatest thrill I've had out here so far!

Reflections

Here I am, 3 days away from my 43rd birthday.  Just when I began to depress myself with ponderings about how much I've really accomplished in my goals in life (arguably not a whole lot, materiall...

Back home again in Indiana

Well, I've been back for the holidays for a week, now.  It's been an incredibly fun, relaxing time with so many friends around.  It's also a working vacation--I'm helping Rich Owens out with...

A fun, enjoyable week!

The week started out pleasantly enough, as I got to meet in person one of my MySpace friends, Bruce Goldwell.  I felt we hit it off pretty well, and there was definitely a sense of synergy and sh...

General busyness

Yesterday I had a major audition.  I can't say much about it, since they're keeping things very low profile (signed a confidentiality waiver, even), but it was potentially big.  Only 6 actor...

Spent the evening at the Magic Castle

Last night, Sharon and I were invited (along with a few others) to the Magic Castle by magician member (and writer/director/composer/producer) J Lyle Segal.  We hit all three of the performance v...

And so it goes.....

I resigned my position in the "In Plain Sight" project---there were too many philosophical and artistic differences between myself and the producer for it really to work out. On the other side, howeve...
