About Me

Few emcees have repped the hip-hop scene in San Jose, California quite like Demone "Dem-One" Carter. Now, as a breakout artist with a new CD titled "Cost of Living " Dem-One is going for dolo, carrying the home team on his back. He's calling his own shot with an updated boom-bap he's hoping to knock straight out the box."Although it is overstated. Hip Hop is better than its ever been. A wider range of voices have been able to be heard. Thats what inspired me to write Rap is Rap," he said of the album's jump off single, a jarring revivalist tome that celebrates all styles and forms of the genre. "Because as much as purist try to judge new trends or movements in the music at the end of the day it still embodies the energy and emotion of Hip Hop.""Cost of Living" is a fiery, 14-track sound-piece that embodies what Dem-One and his crew have been developing for years: That 'Zea-town sound. With production provided by ST One, Silent John and Traxamillion, the CD improves upon the body of work Dem-One has been creating over the past few years. The disc is the soundtrack to Dem-One's thought process, as he attempts to cover several different bases throughout the CD's various tracks."I tried to make a couple statements with record. On one hand, I wanted to try to paint a picture of post 9/11 post economic downturn in Silicon Valley, kind of like a Hip Hop version of Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin On," he said of the album's concept. "On another level me & ST One wanted raise the status of south bay hip hop by creating a diverse underground hip hop album that rivaled a commercial record in Terms of sound quality and packaging."This is Dem-One's first solo record, and marks a new direction in his Professional and personal growth as an artist. To Buy the Album Click Here
